@affliction here back again with a new Splinterlands post and this week our post will be featuring a battle on the rule set
ABOUT THE RULE SET:
Only Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.
One of the most important things in Splinterlands is to know our cards. With the vast number of choices we have whenever we are building our line up for a Splinterlands battle, one might easily get overwhelmed and it helps wonders if we have a prior idea of what cards we possibly can use within the allotted mana cap.
To mix things up in terms of card selection, we are often exposed to rule sets such as Even Stevens and Odd Ones Out which only allows us to select either even mana monsters or only odd mana monsters.
BATTLE RULES :
- Mana Cap : 40
- Rule sets :
Are You Not Entertained?: One additional Gladiator card may be used in battles.
Even Stevens: Only Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.
Aim True: Attacks always hit their target.
- Available Splinters :
Water
Life
Death
THE LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 4 | 6 | Our choice of summoner for the battle was a level 6 General Sloan which adds great synergy to the strong Ranged monsters available in the Life Splinter with it's +1 to Ranged damage. Though, this is the cheapest summoner available in the market that does not mean it is not strong, we just need to use it with the correct line up. | |
Position 1 | 12 | 9 | In the first position of our line up, we have decided to go ahead with a level 8 Arkemis the Bear, which is one of the latest promo cards with 3 melee damage, 4 speed and 12 hp. The card is not only a great tank but also acts as a support monster with the Protect ability. Additionally, the card also has abilities such as Halving and Forcefield to add to it's defensive abilities. | |
Position 2 | 4 | 5 | In the second position, we are playing a level 5 Time Mage which is having 2 magic damage, 4 speed and 3 hp as the base stats along with amazing supporting abilities Slow and Rust. | |
Position 3 | 6 | 8 | Next, in the third position of our line up, we have decided to play a gold foil level 8 Supply Runner, the neutral ranged card that plays exceptionally well because of it's Swiftness ability. The card is also quite strong if we consider it's base stats of 3 ranged damage, 5 speed and 5 hp. | |
Position 4 | 4 | 6 | In the next position, we are playing a level 6 Venari Crytalsmith, a reward card that is a must in General Sloan line ups with it's Tank Heal ability alone. The card also does a solid job with it's offensive contribution thanks to it's 2 ranged damage, 4 speed and 5 hp. Apart from all this, the card also has Dispel ability that comes quite handy at times. | |
Position 5 | 6 | 5 | Next, in the fifth position, we are playing our main damage dealer, another ranged card from Chaos Legion that one can see with almost every General Sloan line up, a Pelacor Arbalest. Our level 5 version of the card has 2 ranged damage, 3 speed and 4 hp. The Double Strike ability is what makes the card so deadly and at level 5 and above, the card also has Flying ability. | |
Position 6 | 4 | 2 | In the last position of our line up, we are playing a Gladiator card courtesy of the Are You Not Entertained? rule set. The card has 2 ranged damage, 6 speed and 5 hp along with the Bloodlust ability. |
THE OPPONENT LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 6 | 2 | As the summoner, the opponent decided to play a level 2 Possibilus the Wise, the legendary Water summoner with +2 to hp Trample and Reach making it a great summoner for the melee monsters available in the Water splinter. | |
Position 1 | 8 | 4 | In the first position, the opponent decided to play one of the most played tanks, Diemonshark. The card costs 8 mana and the level 4 copy of the card the opponent is playing has 3 melee damage, 4 speed, 6 armor and 8 hp along with the abilities Trample and Enrage. | |
Position 2 | 10 | 5 | In the second position of the opponent line up, we see of of the new Soulbound Reward card from Water Spinter in action, a level 5 gold foil Coastal Sentry which comes with 4 melee damage, 4 speed, 2 armor and 7 hp along with the Double Strike ability making it one hard hitting melee monster ad thanks to Possibilus' Reach ability, it will be able to attack from the second position. | |
Position 3 | 6 | 2 | Next, in the third position, the opponent is playing a level 2 Baakjira which seems to be an odd selection for the position as the card does not come with any attack, however it's Void Slow and Strengthen makes it a very useful support card. With 2 speed and mammoth 12 hp, the card is also quite hard to take down. | |
Position 4 | 8 | 3 | In the fourth position, we are facing a level 3 Wave Brood with 2 ranged damage, 1 speed and 13 hp. The card works very well as a tank with it's Taunt ability and it can also attack from the first position with it's Close Range ability. | |
Position 5 | 2 | 3 | In the fifth spot, we are facing a level 3 Igor Darkspear that comes with 2 archery damage, 3 speed and 5 hp making it one of the most well rounded low mana ranged cards available. | |
Position 6 | 0 | 1 | In the last spot, we are facing a Torrent Fiend which is a 0 mana card with 1 melee damage, 2 speed and 1 hp. An extra card often becomes the deciding factor in battles and hence the 0 mana Fiends are very very useful in any battle. |
THE HIGHLIGHTS :
- Round 1:
In the first round we are on the front foot as our Pelacor Arbalest takes out the Wave Brood. Though it was early, but our dominance somewhat indicated where this battle was heading to.
- Round 2:
In the second round, our Arkemis the Bear took out the Diemonshark from the first position of the line up but before the round was over, the Igor Darkspear was able to take down our Arkemis from the first position as well.
- Round 3:
In this round, we see our Supply Runner bag it's first kill as it was able to take out the Coastal Sentry leaving the opponent with the last three monsters left.
- Round 4:
In the fourth round, the Supply Runner bags it's second kill by taking out the Baakjira.
And the Pelacor Arbalest finishes it off in style by bagging it's second and third kill with it's Double Strike taking out Igor Darkspear and Torrent Fiend and we got our self an emphatic victory.

STRATEGY:
With the Even Stevens rule set, it was very important to decide the splinter we wanted to play in this battle as Water, Life and Death all three are having quite decent even monsters at their disposal. We knew that if we were to get ourselves a win in the battle with General Sloan, we could only do that with speed manipulation and with Aim True being available in the battle, our obvious decision was to go ahead with the Life splinter and it's heavy hitting ranged monsters.
Arkemis became the leading contender as a tank in our line up mostly because of it's Protect ability would add a layer of defense since most of the ranged attackers from our line ups are more of a glass cannon. As mentioned earlier, our main focus to win this one will be to manipulate speed and rightly so we did that by placing Time Mage and Supply Runner in our line up and taking out the opponent before their attack.
Our main damage dealer for the battle was Pelacor Arbalest like any General Sloan line up and overall it was a very balanced line up we went with.
MVP:
Card | Kills | Contribution |
---|---|---|
3 | We had quite a few cards playing very important roles in the battle specially the Supply Runner with Swiftness and two important kills in the battle. However, for the title of MVP, our leading contender has to be the Pelacor Arbalest who completely dominated the battle bagging a total of three kills in the battle. With the offensive play style we chose to play for the battle, our team was build around Pelacor Arbalest and the card is without a doubt one of the most synnergi |
