Acoustics do matter. I don't have much real treatment of my room apart from a mix of furnishings. I did get this thing recently though. It ought to reduce the sound bouncing into the microphone.

Nice! That's got a cool aesthetic. Takes up a lot less space than most mic sound buffering gear. If you're so inclined, perhaps you can record a before and after of your sound.
