A Little Red Riding Hood costume for my cat / Un traje de Caperucita Roja para mi gata

Surfing the Internet, I was struck by so many cute things that people design for their pets, whether cats or dogs, and I wanted to do something too, and that's how I designed a little outfit inspired by the famous Little Red Riding Hood for my cat Guillermina, since we are close to Carnival. I think she looked great, and that's why I decided to share this work with you, I hope you like it.

I had some leftover materials lying around, a red fabric, specifically felt. The first thing I did was to cut it to create the cape, the measurements were: 33 cm wide by 27 cm long, and then as I had a rigid lace ribbon, I used it to decorate forming several lines.

To create a ruffle at one end, which is where the neck goes, I sewed an elastic, and then I placed strips of 24 cm long by 2 cm wide on each side, to be able to tie the cape.

The cape is ready, now let's go to the hat. I cut two circles of 13 cm in diameter and made some vertical cuts in each one, taking as a measure the head of my cat, and marking where her ears are. Then I sewed one to the other around the edges and then I sewed lace ribbon around it to decorate and also two strips of the same material to tie the hat.

Don't you think she looks cute in her Little Red Riding Hood costume? Of course, it's a cat version, and she's missing the basket.

¡Hola amigos, bienvenidos todos!

Navegando por Internet, me llamaron la atención tantas cosas lindas que la gente diseña para sus mascotas, sean gatos o perros, y quise hacer algo también, y es así como diseñé un modelito inspirado en la famosa Caperucita Roja para mi gatita Guillermina, ya que estamos cerca de Carnaval. Creo que le quedó genial, y por eso decidí compartir este trabajo con ustedes, espero les guste.

Tenía unos materiales sobrantes por ahí, una tela roja, específicamente fieltro. Lo primero que hice fue cortarla para crear la capa, las medidas fueron: 33 cm de ancho por 27 cm de largo, y luego como tenía una cinta de encaje rígido, la usé para decorar formando varias líneas.

Para crear un arruchado en uno de los extremos, que es donde va el cuello, cosí un elástico, y luego coloqué tiras de 24 cm de largo por 2 cm de ancho a cada lado, para poder amarrar la capa.

Lista la capa, ahora vayamos con el sombrero. Corté dos círculos de 13 cm de diámetro y a cada uno le hice unos cortes verticales tomando como medida la cabeza de mi gata, y marcando donde están sus orejas. Luego cosí uno con otro por los bordes y después le cosí cinta de encaje alrededor para decorar y también dos tiras del mismo material para poder amarrar el sombrero.

¿No les parece que quedó linda con su traje de Caperucita Roja? Claro, es una versión gatuna, y bueno le falta la cestita.
