Market Friday a walk in the historic district

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and daily challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, I have some more recent shots of a walk I took in the Historic District downtown here in New Bedford.

Let me start with this cool shop I saw they have some cool stuff, much of it beach or coast related such as Mermaids fish etc etc, what caught my eye is that cool bench with the seahorse and other fish, isn't it so cool, if I had a deck over looking the water I would have been tempted to check it out more and see how much it was.

This is the building with the shop in the first photo

I noticed the Corson name on the building and looked it up

The Corson Building in New Bedford is actually two buildings connected to each other, one built in 1875 and the other in 1884. It is a commercial building and still houses numerous shops and offices.
It was heavily damaged by fire in 1997 and was set to be demolished until the Waterfront Historic Area League stepped in to purchase and stabilized the building. Unfortunately, it did not have the resources to restore it. In 2004, the building was donated to the National Park Service and restoration was commenced (it is located next to New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park’s Visitor Center).

The Corson Building reopened in 2008, though very little remains of the original structure. Starting in September 2017, the second floor is home to the Corson Makerspace, a creative learning center and art studio for New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park’s Artist-in-Residence. It is not open to park visitors except during scheduled events and exhibitions.

Which sounds interesting and I must watch for events there

Next up we have the Bourne Warehouse and auction room
I didn't find out to much about it, other than it was built in the 19th Century

On this walk I was using my Sony 24-240mm lens mostly, its a lens I used to used a lot when walking around NYC, its handy to be able to quickly zoom in when you see something you need to get slower, such as this next shot as I was walking I saw across the road a crew filing something out side some shops and quickly zoomed in a bit and snapped this shot.

Have a great day

A very beautiful building! Glad the Waterfront Historic Area League stepped in in time to prevent its demolition.

I like the red-ish tones,So amazing!!! Gorgeous shot!

Thanks I do love buildings that color

That is cool that they put a makerspace in there. I know a lot of places have those popping up and it is a great way for people to have access to facilities and tools they might not otherwise have. Awesome stuff!

Nice photography.

Have a great day

Going to stares can be fun!
You get to meet interesting people,
like those in the photos!

A very sturdy building, if it was built in the 19th century until now the building is still very feasible to be occupied,
and the photos that you share are interesting to look at, look bright when the sun illuminates the building.
Have a nice day @tattoodjay 😊

Your photography skills are amazing. keep it up!

Thanks for your support 👍
