Well, I think that the theme of this song is very important because I feel that even though this theme sounds a bit cliché, it is good to review it a little. Since many people have taken this subject for granted and do not even bother to think about it much anymore. That is why I think it is great that a song raises awareness of it.

The lyrics, unlike other songs that I have mentioned in previous posts, are not abstract, because they speak clearly to you about what they are referring to. I think that Katy here wanted to put the idea to us directly. Because in addition to the obvious where she tells us that we should love the other person unconditionally - excuse the redundancy - she also in a certain way says that this is not as easy to achieve as one thinks. For example, if we take the message of the song literally, I think that we could all think that loving unconditionally is almost like turning off any judgment, accepting everything and not expecting anything. But you know, if you ask me, I think that this falls short. Loving in this way does not mean ignoring problems or overlooking things that we do not like, it is something more subjective. You have to look at things with a balanced mind and Katy says it well.

I guess she means that we must learn to live with them without it breaking us in the process, that's why she said that there must be a balance. It's like in everything. The important thing that the song lets us see, and I include myself, is that unconditional love is not for the weak of heart.
