Drone fun and 360 photography

I know whoever got to know me back in the steemit days probably remembers me as a portrait photographer that is always in the studio or editing in Photoshop. But over the past years, I have developed a tone of new hobbies and experimented even further with my old ones so nowadays I do spend a lot of time outside the house.

In 2021 I picked up a small drone intending to showcase my city from another perspective but realized but got completely distracted when I realized that the drone can produce 360 aerial photography so for around a year I mostly ignored the filming and photo capabilities of my little companion and just experimented with those huge panoramas, twisting and turning them with various levels of success.

One thing that took me too long to understand is that people who haven't had prior contact with 360 content might have a very difficult time understanding what they are looking at so I decided to start animating them. And let me tell you this is not an easy task, mostly because of the lack of support for 360 in most of the Adobe apps but it can be achieved using a Gopro plugin in Premier pro with a lot of patience.
The process of turning 26 drone photos into one crazy video that spins around and makes everyone dizzy is rather complicated and includes around 7-8 different pieces of software so I won't bore you with it for now. I'd be happy to discuss it in a future post if there is interest for this level of geekiness

In the end, I must say playing with a drone is a lot of fun and as with most of my obsessions, the rabbit hole always goes a lot deeper than you ever expect it to be. For this new year, I do plan to start learning how to fly it with more control so I can start taking videos and eventually mix those videos with 360 stuff but in my case, you never know what I'll stumble across along the way.
