We have had some very foggy days out here lately. And as a photography lover I had to go out and make some photos as these conditions can add a lot to otherwise "less interesting" subjects. For example, I took some pictures of cows that became somehow isolated due to foggy environment.
I also went into the local woodlands, and tried capturing some trees. As I find woodland photography pretty tricky to do in normal conditions due to lot of distracting elements, the fog helps cover those distractions which adds to a more clean picture.
Maybe I should have removed that branch, but hey, it's nature.
Extreme wide angle (12mm) effect.
Isolating
Fog helps you isolate a subject, in other words, it helps creating a separation between the subject and the background. Like this tree is cut loose from the background by the thin layer of fog between the tree and the forest behind it. Without fog this would have become a dark blend and less interesting picture.
This tree separates itself from the background by both its forms compared to the straight trees in the background as also its position. Without fog it would have been much harder to emphasis this effect.
A gnarly dead pine tree stands out and catches some light due to it's lack of needles.
This little fellow refuses to let it's leafs go. It stands out between the dark pine trees by its shape and color.
I hope you enjoyed my foggy tree image's and see you next time!
Cheers,
Thijs
These photographs are outstanding, Thijs. Like ackhoo, I can't decide which I like best.
Each could be used to slip into a beautifully deep and tranquil meditation. Ha! That just gave me the idea of tuning into one to create a sound healing.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful, very inspirational photography. Reblogging... the first in a longgg while since I've been away from Steem/PeakD family.
Thank you very much for your kind words!🙏 I hope the images provide just that. Thanks for stopping by and reblogging! 😀🙏👍
That fourth shot with the gnarled tree is so cool. I love the atmosphere in these.
Thanks a lot! 😀🙏 The fog really helped to emphasise the shapes. 👍
Damn @thijsvermeer you're on fire with your posts! 😎 Nice moody pictures you created, that 12mm is insane (when I compare it with my 14) 😱
Thanks a lot man! 😀👊 Yes, that 12mm lens keeps amazing me with its extreem angle. I bought it especially for Iceland. Will soon post a few shots from that trip. 😉👍
nice shots in the fog
Thanks!😀🙏
Nice series, I love picture 3 and 4. Good location to go back again and again 😄
Thanks! Funny thing is I went there again and again but just noticed those trees the last time. I guess fog makes you see things differently. I will definitely return. 😉👍
The pictures take me to something surreal, fairytale, wordless.
Thank you very much! ☺️🙏🙏
These are some sick photos. Fog really adds a lot of atmosphere to any kind of scene.
Thanks a lot! ☺️🙏 Fog might be depressing for a lot but for most photographers it’s play time! Thanks for stopping by. 😀👍
Beautiful photographs Thijs, I like the fog… and darker photographs. It makes for extra moody atmospheres.
Thanks a lot! 🙏 I like those moody conditions a lot too. Winter isn’t so bad for photography after all. 😉
Graag gedaan 😉
Nope… winter and dark days are perfect for photographers. I like them the most. I’m happy when the weather turns here in the south…
They are all beautiful, I can't decide which I like best! :)
Thank you very much!😀🙏
Wowwww very beautiful
Thank you very much! 😀🙏🙏
Lovely landscape. The fog gives it a very mysterious vibe.
Thank you very much! 😀🙏

Excellent series! Fog adds so much to woodland photography.
Thanks a lot! 🙏 Indeed fog really adds a lot. I think woodland photography is difficult, for me it is, since there can be so much distracting elements. Fog helps eliminate those distractions. 👍
That last shot is my favourite!
Thank you! 😀🙏
All are great shooted!📷
