Bees, bugs and veggie flowers.

I am sure that you know that this is an onion flower.

A strange looking bee, bigger than the norm, also made an appearance that I will show you below.

The wife decided to plant a small, 1 meter x 1 meter patch in the garden with onions and potatoes, and the bees are very happy about it. Her idea about growing veggies is to throw 3 big onions on the ground, and to water them regularly. The same goes for the potatoes, and guess what? It worked, as everything started to grow. The onions with their high stems take the pride of place and the potatoes turned into a healthy bush.

Nothing planted orderly here like normal veggie gardens where the seeds are planted in neat rows. Rather a slap-dash garden to blend in with all of the other plants. We know that bees have become endangered, and we are happy that many bees visit our small garden, as we don't use any pesticides. I have never tasted onion honey, and I suppose that one's eyes will start watering when the honey gets eaten, like it does when one peels and cuts an onion. Lol

So, Come and let me show you that big bee.

Turns out not to be a bee, but rather a type of a fly that masquerades as a bee.

Here below is a view of our veggie garden.

At the right you can see the long green stems of the onion flowers. And at the left you can see the potato bush next to the wall.

A closer look at the potato flowers.

And then Mr. Skink lizard popped out, as he heard the plants whispering about the guy with the camera. :)

Can you believe that he flashed his bum at me as he crawled back into a bush.

Now don't look so serious after reading the post, as I tried my best to instill some humor into it. What is life without a smile and some laughter? A mortuary :) In any case, I don't think that my wife will win any awards for her veggie garden, but I can tell you that those veggies are going to taste very nice in a potato bake covered in a mix of 4 cheeses as a topping.

And that's what it is all about, as home grown always tastes better than the stuff that was deep freezed to last on the shelves on sale at the shops. One can immediately taste the difference between home grown and shop bought. So now, go and chuck some potatoes between the rose bushes in your garden and see what will happen. :)

I hope that you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

When I first saw an onion flower I thought it would smell good for some reason.. lol I was wrong.

Hope the bug likes the flower

Now I know why I didn't smell the flowers. !LOL

Yeah, I know that the bugs don't mind, as they will eat almost anything in the flower kingdom.

Whenever bees land on flowers and plants like this, the sight is much more special and memorable. I also make pictures of them.

Yep, we share the love of bees on flowers. !LOL

Bees are very industrious and collect nectar from flowers wherever they are. I doubt they will disappear. We just had a hurricane here and the beekeepers lost a lot of hives and the bees became disoriented, but they are already creating them again. Our gardens are their source of life, so we must take care of them and encourage them.
Your others are beautiful, also those lizards. My regards @papilloncharity.🤗

Our problem here is that the pesticides being sprayed on the farms seem to affect the bee populations.
That's why we keep our gardens at home free from any pesticides. All people should take care of the bees, as they perform a special role in the eco-systems.
Thank you, and I am glad that you liked the other photos.
Regards, and some !BEER for you.
