Good day community

The Ulloa garden is a very special corner of the city where I live, Cáceres. This little oasis is located in the old part of the historic center and is not easy to locate. Access is through a small door located on one side of the square near the cathedral. Whenever I go to this place I find a very special tranquility, a place that is not frequented due to its location, some musicians, couples or people who go to read quietly are its most frequent visitors. I am amazed at how well cared for it is always, how clean its pond is, the variety of plants in such a small space and how their types change throughout the year.

Aspects of the city

Walking the streets that run parallel to the old restored wall, I find images of great beauty to photograph. Sometimes I stop at small details that catch my attention, other times I take more general images of the situations and encounters that I can see on my way. My intention was to go to the lower part of the city, to a neighborhood called San Blas.

On my journey I was in another time, each step made me think about the number of events that had happened in these historic stones. I was at the descent of the here called Adarve, a place flanked by museums, castles, palaces where time has stopped and creates a special illusion for walkers. Photographically it is a place not to miss a detail since there are many plans and photos that can be taken on the tour. Immersed in another time and space, my camera does not stop taking pictures of everything that captures your attention.

I have tried to capture some essences and moments that are striking to me because of the language and what they transmit to me. Angles of vision in which I have seen myself many times due to the years that I have been living here. Passing through these places on many occasions I have wanted to photograph them to show them to you and they are part of what I usually see in my walk through the old streets of Cáceres.

I also find more specific details such as the famous “old woman from the newspaper”, a woman who was dedicated to delivering the newspaper in the center of the city. It is one of the most photographed statues in Cáceres and when you pass by it there are always people taking pictures next to it. Already on the road that leads to San Blas I find some details that break the monotony a bit, this is the case of this window. Artistically it is striking and I take advantage of the fact that I can see my reflection in it to be part of this strange composition that I can admire in it.

I keep walking and finally reach my goal, the chapel in the San Blas neighborhood. The afternoon begins to fall and a light fog has begun to descend to slowly settle giving this beautiful chapel a unique appearance. Many people congregate in its surroundings and it is a meeting point for all the people of the neighborhood.

Jardín de los Ulloa y aspectos de la ciudad

El jardín de los Ulloa es un rincón muy especial de la ciudad donde resido, Cáceres. Este pequeño oasis está situado en la parte antigua del casco histórico y no es fácil de localizar. El acceso es a través de una pequeña puerta situada en un lateral de la plaza cercana a la catedral. Siempre que voy a este sitio encuentro una tranquilidad muy especial, lugar poco frecuentado debido a su ubicación, algunos músicos, parejas o personas que van a leer tranquilamente son sus visitantes más frecuentes. Me sorprende lo bien cuidado que esta siempre, lo limpio de su estanque, la variedad de plantas en un espacio tan reducido y como van cambiando el tipo de ellas a lo largo del año.

Recorriendo las calles que van paralelas al la vieja muralla restaurada encuentro imágenes de una gran belleza para fotografiar. A veces me paro en pequeños detalles que llaman mi atención, otras en cambio tomo imágenes más generales de las situaciones y encuentros que puedo ver en mi camino. Mi intención era ir a la parte más baja de la ciudad, hacia un barrio llamado San Blas.

En mi recorrido me encontraba en otro tiempo, cada paso me hacía pensar en la cantidad de sucesos que en estas históricas piedras habían sucedido. Me encontraba en la bajada del aquí llamado Adarve, lugar flanqueado por museos, castillos, palacios donde el tiempo se ha detenido y crea una especial ilusión al caminante. Fotográficamente es un lugar para no perderse detalle ya que hay muchísimos planos y fotos que se pueden tomar en el recorrido. Sumergido en otro tiempo y espacio mi cámara no deja de fotografías todo aquello que capta su atención.
He tratado de captar algunas esencias y momentos que me resultan llamativos por el lenguaje y lo que me trasmiten. Ángulos de visión en los cuales me he visto muchas veces debido a los años que llevo viviendo aquí. Al pasar por estos lugares en muchas ocasiones he querido retratarlos para mostrárselos y son parte de lo que suelo ver en mi caminar por las viejas calles de Cáceres.

También encuentro detalles más concretos como la aquí famosa “”vieja del periódico”, mujer que se dedicaba a repartir el periódico en el centro de la ciudad. Es una de las estatuas mas fotografiadas de Cáceres y cuando pasas al lado de ella siempre hay personas tomándose fotografías junto a ella. Ya en el camino que lleva a San Blas encuentro algunos detalles que rompen un poco la monotonía, este es el caso de esta ventana. Artísticamente es llamativa y aprovecho que puedo ver mi reflejo en ella para ser parte de esta composición tan extraña que puedo admirar en ella.

Sigo caminando y por fin llego a mi objetivo, la capilla del barrio de San Blas. Empieza a caer la tarde y una niebla ligera a comenzado a bajar para ir lentamente depositándose dándole un aspecto singular a esta hermosa capilla. Muchas personas se congregan en sus alrededores y es un punto de encuentro para toda la gente del barrio.

Al ver estas fotos, casi puedo sentir que me dan una paliza Romana cargando una cruz.... ¿Que tan cómodo puede ser caminar con tacón alto por esas calles eh mono?

Es algo que me maravilla, ver a las novias cuando quieren hacerse fotos en esta zona. Hermosos trajes blancos y bla, bla, y tacones, jaja. Ya te digo que misión imposible parece que van caminando y pisando huevos para que no se rompan. Bueno muchas las ves con esos trajes y moviéndose con las nikes puestas, TOTAL. @nestorgarcia
