Continuing the story from the last post. Here I will tell you more about the village of Pirin and Bulgarian folklore.

The village is located in the most beautiful Bulgarian mountain in my opinion - Pirin. Nestled among the mountain slopes, locals welcome adventure-hungry tourists. In the 19th century, the village was the largest in the area and the local villagers created much needed products for the time such as nails, horseshoes and agricultural tools. In 1903, the Turks set fire to the entire village when Bulgaria was under Turkish rule. Some of the villagers managed to hide in the church.
Locals tell an interesting story about a dragon who fell in love with a girl. Every visitor to the village of Pirin who has the good fortune to talk to a grandmother will get to know this legend. The girl was still a baby then. Neighbors saw a light in the room, and for years afterward the girl begged for bread and water. They share that it was not good mentally. The dragon, through an herb, burned her skin and brain.

Today in the village you can see typical Bulgarian architecture from centuries ago. The best thing is that there is no trace of the current modern lifestyle. If you want to eat you have to grow animals and plants to cook. Id.

###### FOLKLORE IN THE VILLAGE

If you want to visit Bulgaria so you can get to know it, you must pass through this village. It is one of the few that keep the Bulgarian spirit. The wears from the photos are authentic and characteristic of the village of Pirin. They were made by the grandmother of a local old grandmother and are about 100 years old. A true relic!
We traveled 400 kilometers for this photographic story. I had to take the photos here because in just a few years the village will be deserted. An ugly fact that unfortunately applies to the few remaining such places. They definitely love the holidays here! Once a year everyone gathers for a kurban, dancing the chorus.

I love the folklore clothes in your pictures. Do people normally wear them or is it only for special occasions? I'm asking as we have a few villages in Slovakia where people wear them as their daily clothes. I really like that there are still places that keep traditions.

Great photoshoot! It was definitely worth those 400 km that you had to travel!

Thank you for sharing and have a lovely day!

In the past, Bulgarians wore costumes while working in the fields or having fun. There are special models for weddings. Now they dress mainly for folklore vestivals or folk celebrations.

Thank you!

Beautiful colors. I could see the spirits of Bulgarians through these pictures.

Thank you so much!
If you have the opportunity to visit Bulgaria, you will experience it. 🙃

There is a lot of history in that place, it is wonderful that the people preserve the architecture and the traditional Bulgarian lifestyle, here in Panama there are indigenous communities that maintain their traditions, you can see them in the city with their clothes, it seems to me that this is an important part of the history of a country.

Exactly! Every nation must preserve its traditions.
Greetings!

Excellent shots! I love the 'relic' clothes. Awesome style choices on your compositions!
