Most of us never dreamed of being a corporate cog—at least, not when we were kids. Yet somehow, we find ourselves sitting behind desks, commuting at the crack of dawn, and returning home when everyone is almost fast asleep.
In big cities like Surabaya, commuting is part of everyone's life. Many people from smaller towns look for better lives in this place. They are willing to commute daily and sometimes only come home on weekends to see their family. Interestingly, the place is quiet during the weekend in a city like this. It's only busy and buzzing throughout the week. The stillness in this picture is like fresh air for this central and major station of this city.
It's quiet, unlike most train stations during the weekend. In Yogyakarta, for example, the weekend would be crazy busy as it's the tourist hub on the island. So, each station has its characteristics, uniqueness, and even some type of vibe.
I was waiting for my commuter train to take me home. People of all ages were waiting for the train, looking pretty exhausted. I wish the train tracks weren't more open and had fences all over them. But I suppose it's for everyone's safety. After all, many kids are often running around the platform, which could be dangerous for them in any case a train will pass through.
I was taking these photos at the crack of dawn, and the train station at my place was still pretty empty. After all, it's Saturday, and even more so, it's pretty cold. Most would simply rather stay up and wake up when the sun is out from its hiding place.
See you around !

Yohhhhhhh that 5th... 7th and 8th photos look smackingly beautifull! Some pieces of art I'd say!
But yeah.. the 9 to 5 isn't cutting it for me anymore... me and The Betty are eyeing the property market... we want to build a nice portfolio of houses after we bought our first one... we wont reap the rewards now but maybe in 15 to 25 years it might be worth it.
Escape the matrix but it's not that easy!
hehe thank you so much! I actually love the last ones too. I hope you can get some more houses. They typically are longterm investment but you sure will get your money's worth. In the meantime, you can also rent it if it's located in a strategic location.
Yeah no for sure... that's a long term thing and it's more a thing of securing a nice income for when or if we can't work anymore... we have the cash flow now so why not spend it wisely?
Buying our first house is nice, what we also worked out was that if we pay R2000 (ZAR) more than we should each month.
The repayment currently is R10000 (ZAR) adding 20% to that cuts the home loan from 20 years to 10 years. . And we can afford to put down almost double the 10k a month. We are going to smack it down fast. I reckon 5 to 7 years.
Which is really good considering people legitly sit with those loans for their entire life. ( ofcourse life will happen in between. Therrs always bumps in the road)

Thank you so much!
Now that's a pretty long train, I guess this one is not the plane type
hehe yeah, that one is pretty long!
I can see that
Everyone walks a unique path and we happen to converge on a platform, end up in an office or in a meadow. We operate like trains, it's back and forth from one side to the other, moving forward, forward and forward.
We wait for the right moment to move, out of nowhere a transition may come and we have no choice but to go forward, like a train.
That's a beautifully written! I wished I could've written it like that 😆

That is also good because the air is still fresh and fewer people are commuting. 😊You wake up travel so early, @macchiata
