A Series of Photographs from My Old Mavic Air 1 Drone

Mavic Air, the first version, was, in fact, the first 'professional' drone I ever bought. Although I was always passionate about drones, and I was aiming to take drone photographs as much as possible, until 2018, I never had anything "professional".

But this drone changed my way of thinking about photography and the diversity of images you can capture with a drone!

This was my baby drone. Of course, like an idiot, I sold it as I was disappointed by its range which was limited to under one mile in the distance before it completely lost telemetry.

Although now I have the DJI FPV drone, and I push it towards its limit with every flight, I do miss a classic photography drone, even an old one.

In the meantime, I want to share with you some photographs taken with my old Mavic Air 1.

Captured in October 2018, I found a lovely location about less than 50 miles from my home location in the UK. These next four photographs were captured at Bewl Water in Lamberhurst, United Kingdom. The forest was colourful and lovely seen from above, and the water was crystal clear. On that day, I remember there was a bit of fog, which made me create a small panoramic image (3rd) above the forest. Also, the pathway cutting through the forest looks amazing, in my opinion, but I never managed to find it.

I really wanted to share this image with you. This is actually the water texture seen from above while I flew my drone half a mile above the sea. I started to panic a little when I lost the telemetry; however, the drone started its return to home process, and I gained control again in seconds. It is worth the scare to capture this image.

This is a storm I managed to capture not far from Hastings when me and my best friend, who've I also corrupted to buy a drone, went for a duo-flight. Guess what, we crashed into each other hehe, no big damages, though.

And this last image is on Hastings beach, where I live at the moment. The beach is not made of sand but of rocks. That day was pretty windy, but the drone remained stable, which made an amazing picture of how waves cleaned in the shore. The two "ants" are my partner and me.

I will probably invest in another photography drone, and I was thinking that DJI Mavic mini 2 will do the trick because of portability. I guess I can take some photography with my DJI FPV drone, but it's definitely not made for that, but for stunning FPV cinematics.
Oh, I did take some videos with this Mavic mini drone, and I want to share two of them, which are on YouTube.

The location of this video is Botany Bay, UK.

And this video is made in Seven Sisters, UK and other locations. This video will connect with my above photographs.

p.s. - the images were edited in Lightroom, and I shared them on my Unsplash Profile for others to use them in their projects for free.
p.s. 2 - Thank you @maxideea for always being with me when I was travelling like a crazy person to fly my drone hehe, although you had nearly no choice :) :) :).

Hope you find a nice new drone, that you can use the way you like.Beautiful captures @lovelyscape, love the water texture one and the beach at the end.

I have a drone in mind, can't wait to get it.Thank you @littlebee4, I appreciate it!

You are welcome 😊
I can imagine… looking forward to some new shots with it, once you get it 😉

Wow, the photos of the forest are amazing. Artwork of nature 🤩

So, you sold that Mavic Air 1? Well, as you are a passionate photographer, you will probably decide to buy that other one you mentioned, DJI Mavic mini 2.

It's so different (hahah, who would tell) to see the places from another angle. Very cool 😎

Thank you, I love the images as well
Yes, I sold it a while back. But the mini 2 is a huge upgrade from the Mavic Air 1, to be honest. I will definitely go for it in the near future, as I will plan a lot of trips this summer, which I could benefit a lot from the drone.

Sounds great, travel + photos !! And as you say, it's mini so easy to carry with you :))

I also loved that forest shot. This thing got some cool captures! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Thank you as well for the appreciation. I do have more shots of the forest, but I thought if I put too many of them I might spam haha.

Here are another three of them I would love to share.

When you are sharing your own original photography... it's only spamming if you share it more than once double posting, or if you share the same post multiple times. It's never spamming to just share more of your own content! So, less isn't always more.... We love to see all there is to see! Thanks for being considerate though!

Thank you for telling me this. Where I can, I could add more photos, even if there is a little more similarity between them (a thing which I was afraid, for example, to share multiple images with the forest, which, in one way, they are part of the same scene, even if the composition is different).

I can say that I am a drone fan, I have a DJI Mavic 2 4k drone and I am very happy with it.

Wow. I was dreaming of a Mavic 2. Now I am dreaming of a Mavic 3. Never in my budget but always considered top cameras for photography at 'considerable' prices.
I would be very happy with something like that as well <3
