Anna - Light Painting Portraits using Light Tubes

Any Photo is better with a human in it. Here it's easy because I had a wonderful model. Anna and I had a Studio session in 2017 and I was just revisiting the old files and checking if I missed some. Yes, I did!

Today you can see a few shots that I think are worth sharing as a quick memory-lane and flashback to a cool portrait session with some additional Light Paintings.

Light Test before we do some Light Painting

Here we tested the conditions in the studio with the basic lighting. She was definitely a big tease!

Ok, Let's start already!

Since, keeping it simple was the credo I chose some Light tubes in Red and White just to set some highlights. Nothing complicated but a swing of the tool behind, around, and in front of her. All this was going super fast so I only had a few seconds of exposure time. Exposure times range from something between 5 and 12 seconds at the most while using an F-Stop from F5 - F8 on my Canon 16-35mm F2.8.

Hot Shot

Simplicity rocks! Light effects should always be simplistic and not overly wild. Here this works super nicely. But you tell me which one you like.

Simplicity rocks!

How wild is still pleasing to the eyes is a matter of taste. That of course also counts for the model. But hey you guys tell me!

Here is way too much going on with the light. In my opinion!

Whaaat?

Not sure she likes it!

This Light Painting shot is as simple as it gets and so really it works. Not too much going on and not taking the attention from the model. What do you think?

Settings?
What you see is a single-exposure Light Painting with a 7-second exposure time with the camera at ISO 400 and my 70-200mm, F2.8 Canon EF lens set to F5.6.

Was meinst du?

Einstellungen?

NOW USE YOUR FINGERS!

If your fingers are not as damaged as Anna's and you made it this far in this post ... hey maybe there is an "upvote" justified. Thank you for your attention!

I hope you found the story interesting and these images inspirational. If you have more questions please do not hesitate. I am happy to share my knowledge.

If you think this is Spam, why did you read this far, and why the fuck bother you? Move on from your self-righteous mind state and bury yourself. Don't bother about what others may find interesting. Just stay in your bubble and ...

Cheer Up, Guys!
