I have to say I was surprised the other night as we had another clear night, that's two in a week, rare in the UK especially this time of year lol.
Anyhow, I saw that it was the full wolf moon and I thought I'd do some experimenting with the camera and telescope.
I am still surprised by the shots I am getting, still not as sharp as I'd like, but I am just shooting the moon through a couple of mirrors and not a £1000+ price lens.
I thought I'd try an experiment using the barlow lenses that I have for the scope, in which these bring in further magnification, they do however have a side effect of reduced brightness and degradation in picture when photographing, this degradation is harder to see with the naked eye though, but I did want to get right in there and see what I can come up with.
I used the 2x barlow and a SVBony 5x barlow lens to try and get shots, the 5x especially has a strange effect where it puts a light patch onto the photos, the 2x one does do this but not as often as the 5x.
While I was out with the telescope, I could see jupiter floating over the night sky and tried to get a shot of that too.
As you can see I managed it, this is just a single shot of the planet, I have to say, to see another world there, with your own naked eye is fantastic, especialy when you can see the weather bands on the planet, it's just fantastic.
In the future I need another scope, and one with a tracking mount, the one I have is fully manual, but won't be any good for deep sky photography, something I have yet to try, although I have shot the orion nebula before, this maybe next on my list, just to see what I can get out of the scope, I do think I need a fatter scope with bigger mirror and aperture for what I want to do.
I really hope you like the shots I've posted, I am fairly new to this astro stuff, but loving the challenge.
Thanks for reading.
All the best :-)
Beautiful images 💪😍
Thank you ever so much :-)
You've captured some spectacular images there, thank you for sharing! How amazing is it, looking closer at what's out there? Changed my whole perspective while looking through my cheap plastic telescope from years ago at the moon. A low rent Overview Effect perhaps, but no less incredible.
Really nice! Not sure if you've played with it much but Topaz AI software could really tighten up those soft ones dramatically without spoiling.
Wow, these pics are stunning. I took pics of the moon too but with a normal camera 😁
Thank you ever so much, I sometimes just use my 150-600mm lens on my camera, I do like the results, but the moon still looks a bit smaller than I'd like without cropping.
So out of this world, literally. I always love to get a moon shot with a beautiful camera and lenses.
