Helicopter Cave

IMG_5071.jpg

The photo shows the longest cave in Bashkiria. Helicopter Cave, or its second name is Akhmerovsky Gap. The cave received its first name because of the way in which it was discovered. While flying over the area in a helicopter, the geologist saw a huge failure, and the name stuck by itself. The interesting thing is that the locals knew about this failure, but did not attach any importance to it. After the discovery, speleologists began to explore the cave.

The cave received its second name from the name of a nearby settlement - the village of Akhmerovo. For a long time, descending into the cave required special preparation and appropriate equipment. But a few years ago a staircase was built into the cave. But now they charge money to enter the cave. In principle, the amount is not very large, in terms of dollars - around three.

After going down the stairs, you find yourself at the bottom of the hole, a place beyond which most visitors do not go, as it is too dirty. When it rains, everything pours into this huge funnel, so there is always mud here. Moreover, there is a small lake here, which most tourists take pictures of. Passages and tunnels extend in all directions - and they have not been fully explored. Some of them can be entered calmly, while others require at least wearing a speleologist's costume.
