Mono Lake is a photographer's paradise, lots of drama in the skies and there's always an interesting foreground subject called Tufas and also blooming sagebrush. Also, sun dogs come out to play early in the morning.

That is a nice shot, the lighting on the Tufas tops is spectacular. My wife has gotten some sun dog pictures, it is something I have not been lucky enough to get yet.
I see it a lot in Washington, in fact I've seen many. Anywhere where there's a slight mist/clouds there's a slight chance for a sun dog :)
