It's More or Less the Best Curation Compilation.jpg

The Minimalist community presents It's More or Less the Best, a curation compilation highlighting some outstanding blogs published over the past week.

These selected authors shared their personal stories and views on different aspects of their minimalist lifestyle, giving some insight into what the style of living involves.

This compilation is presented to help shine the spotlight on the selected posts, with the hope that you will take a look at them in case you missed any.

Outstanding Minimalists Blogs in no particular order.

The Eco-Crafter’s Cabinet

✨"My sentimental upcycling projects are what I made from my grandma’s old cloth. My mom had been keeping this cloth for years and even though it was old and served her no purpose, she couldn’t let go because it was her mother’s favourite. For some reason, tables turned and suddenly, she wanted to discard the cloth." @abenad

When are you staying at my house?

✨"In an attempt to be better hosts, a few years ago I bought a bunk bed. The bottom bed was a double size, and the top bed was a single size. The top bed was rarely used, so it seemed like a bad purchase for a long time. However, having this furniture, we once stayed with six people in one of these places. Because we were all friends we were able to function well." @aaalviarez

Quiet Thoughts...

✨"I can think about the present and focus on what matters while I don't give room for negativity to cloud my thoughts or affect my decisions. I started engaging my mind more with positive thoughts and activities; no room for idleness, but sometimes I find myself slipping and immediately call myself to order." @george-dee

Sentimental Bits

✨"One aspect of non-minimalism that I miss. That need to hold onto objects of sentimental value. The truth is that you would know that looking at it from the bigger picture, you did the right thing for yourself, but it doesn’t make it any easier. I think the reason why we attach sentimental value to objects, judging from how I am with these things is that feeling that I would need them again. " @jhymi

Bygones

✨"One trick I use to let go so easily is a few minutes or even seconds of, is contemplation. During this period I think of the importance an item holds and how often I used or even come in contact with such an item. Would this item be just another thing taking up space or is it something that would simplify my existence? If my answer doesn't point to the item simplifying my existence in one way or another, I simply do away with it." @wongi

My Journey to Lighter Travels and a Freer Mind

✨"Before I got this bag, I didn't know how to arrange my luggage for even a short 2-3 day trip. I would often pack unnecessary items, only to realise when I had gotten to my destination that most of them weren't needed. Most of them I give out just to reduce my bag and still end up buying those items when I get back from my trip, making me waste money." @princessbusayo

New Events, New Clothes

✨"The next event would come and I would ignore the clothes I had and shop for a newer one, I just wanted the trending outfits. At one point, I realized that my wardrobe couldn’t even take most of my clothes and I still claim not to have anything to wear. I had to take a break from buying lots of clothes and just declutter my wardrobe. I had to check for clothes that I wasn’t wearing and give it out. " @beeeee

When Mayhem Mattered

✨"At a certain age, I realized that letting go of people was the way out. Just like how so many clothes and shoes cluttered space, friends had also made a mess of my life and even put me in a bad mental place. Through the journey of finding myself, I decided to let go of certain people and stop accepting just anyone into my life." @abenad

Finding value in less.

✨"I decided to come up with a little project to help organize my things and, hopefully, bring some peace to my room and my head.

Out of pure imagination (and maybe a bit of desperation!), I decided to make a simple organizer out of paper. I found some cardboard and sturdy paper I had lying around, and bit by bit, I put together compartments where I could place smaller items like my pens, pencils, keys and chargers." @juwon-btc

My ReFashioning Triumph

✨"The dress was well weaved so it was really tiring loosing all the threads out. After loosing them out, I had to cut away from the length because it was too long and afterwards, I joined them back with my sister’s sewing machine. Then, all I had to do with the top was loose the arm part and then sew it back without gathering it." @hopestylist
