Here in the Netherlands you have those lists every year with the Top 2000 etc. Spotify also has the so-called Wrapped. My Wrapped with your favorite songs, mine is not entirely correct because many songs that I played a lot were played off because I practiced them for the band :)

Therefore here is my Top 10 of songs in 2024 that I played the most. They are not necessarily songs from 2024 by the way.

Sleep Token - Atlantic

Sleep Token is my discovery of the past year. My son and I have seen them before in the opening act of Slipknot, they were already great then. Now they came to Amsterdam with their own show, and they were so good. The whole show, the music and the singing. Just great.

Richie Kotzen - Warpaint

Also saw Richie Kotzen live this year. He came to Hengelo Overijssel. Richie was also an artist on my bucket list, through a band I rehearsed with I got to know his music and what an amazing voice that man has. This song is one of my favorites. And what a performer.

Abba - The Day before you came

As many of you know by now, I am a big fan of Abba. I have been playing them for years. This specific song is the (almost) end of the band. one of the last albums (The Visitors) but also a gem.

Soulfly - Eye for an Eye

Not everyone can appreciate this, I think, but this song is so full of energy. Luckily my son shares this passion, last year he (just like me) also had the Soulfly logo tattooed on his back, special......
We also saw Soulfly live this year :).

Marcus King - Beautiful Stranger

We have also seen Marcus King a few times, also last year. In the AFAS theater in Amsterdam, his set started with this song, Beautiful Strangers, an amazing song by an amazing musician.

John Mayer Trio - Who do you think I was

One of my all-time favorites the John Mayer Trio with the most insane bassist Pino Palladino. This swings like crazy.

Thundercat - Them Changes

We're staying a bit in the bassist corner. Thundercat, one of a kind, bassist. Here together with Ariana Grande, super groovy number. His style is typical for him as a musician.

Slipknot - Snuff

December 5 this year we went to see Slipknot in Ziggodome Amsterdam. Although they only played songs from their first album, Snuff is for me one of the best songs of Slipknot. But that is more because of the context of the song, this is for Slipknot a memory of the band members they have lost. Goosebumps.

Dreamtheater - Metropolis part. 1

This was one of my first introductions to Dreamtheater, long before this recording by the way. The virtuosity of these musicians is unreal, if you listen carefully there are so many different rhythms and melodies, just to come up with it you have to be a genius, let alone to play it.

Bee Gees - Massachusetts

I'll close with the Bee Gees, also a band I like to listen to. They have meant a lot to pop music and have written for many artists. The harmony of these men is sublime. Unfortunately there is only 1 member left.
