A New User's Guide to Getting Started with HOC

in HOC10 months ago

It can be hard getting started on Hive. Even once you find your tribe(s) it can take some time before you build those lasting relationships and people start noticing and upvoting your posts. In the meantime, as a new person, you look around at others and see their success and wonder if you're doing something wrong, not as talented, not as liked, etc. The answer is no, but it can still be discouraging.

Everyone at HOC was new at some point. At one point or another we've had lots of help, had our hand held and it's developed us into where we are today. We want to do the same!

If you're new, welcome! Whether you stick around with us or not, we want to help you stick around with Hive and succeed! To do that there are some guidelines we've set out for this partnership, to get you to your goals.

Step 1)
Join our Discord: https://discord.com/invite/AAGmgQ5f

It's much easier having conversations and allows all of HOC's members to help, offer advice, etc.

Step 2)
You'll be asked by an admin to provide a link to one of your social media accounts in private, so we can get a better idea of your passion, hobbies, etc.

Example: Bullion Tools' X profile.

Step 3)
Submit an introduction post to HOC (hive-13565)

Example of Bullion Tools' introduction post:

Step 4)
An admin or mod will review your post. If there are no concerns with it, they will reply to your post, asking you to uphold an oath not to plagiarize, paraphrase or quote other sources without proper credit given, use AI to create content (Using it to help spell check is fine, so long as you note this in your article), comment spam to farm rewards, and other frowned-upon activities that take away from the positive experience of Hive.

You will be held to this oath. Breaking this oath may lead to suspension of all HOC benefits if the action is not stopped immediately. Failure to do so, and/or being placed on the HiveWatchers blacklist will result in immediate suspension of benefits.

Step 5)
Next, we'll have a chat in the HOC Discord about what communities might be a good match where you can not only post, but interact with others who have similar interests and forge new friendships as you become part of the community.

Step 6)
There is no set length of time at which point a new member "graduates." When the admins determine someone has reached the point where they have become established, have a good understanding of how Hive works, their work quality remains consistent, they are being rewarded for their content and maintaining good relationships and a positive status in their tribe(s), HOC will revisit these benefits and advise the new member when they've graduated from the program.

Once a new Hive member has graduated from the HOC program, benefits will be withdrawn so they can be used for new members. HOC members may continue to support graduates if they so choose. Graduates are welcome to continue with HOC as a regular member and work towards onboarding and encouraging new Hive members.
