Today, 6 September, is a special day for me because it marks the first anniversary of the lifestyle I lead today. Time flies when you're having fun and I can't believe it's been so long. I remember this day last year, where I had woken up and immediately started crying, because the fear of the unknown still scared me a bit. Today, one year later, I can say thank you to my past self who dared to step out of her comfort zone and travel alone for the first time, because everything I experienced was incredible. And I also say infinite thanks to Hive, who has given me enough financial resources to be able to move from one place to another ❤️.

Hoy 6 de septiembre es un día especial para mí porque se cumple el primer aniversario del estilo de vida que llevo actualmente. El tiempo vuela cuando uno se divierte y no puedo creer que haya pasado tanto tiempo. Me acuerdo de este día el año pasado, en donde me había despertado e inmediatamente empecé a llorar, porque el miedo a lo desconocido todavía me asustaba un poco. Hoy, un año después, puedo decirle gracias a mi yo del pasado que se animó a salir de su zona de confort y viajar sola por primera vez, porque todo lo que viví fue increíble. Y también le digo infinitas gracias a Hive, que me ha dado los recursos económicos suficientes para poder moverme de un lado a otro ❤️.

This time last year I started my first work-for-housing exchange in a hostel in the province of San Juan, 1200 km from my home in Buenos Aires. I had already heard about this methodology and wanted to try it so that I could stay longer and get to know the places I was visiting. For this exchange you don't receive financial compensation, but at the time I had my Hive blog well worked out and I knew that my rewards would be enough for expenses such as food or trips. I decided to give it a try, still a bit sceptical, so I had only arranged a two-week contract in order to have the possibility to return home in case the numbers didn't work out. In total, however, I stayed there for two full months because everything worked out so well 😃.

En esta fecha el año pasado empecé mi primer intercambio de trabajo por alojamiento en un hostel de la provincia de San Juan, a 1200 km de mi casa en Buenos Aires. Yo ya había escuchado esta metodología y quería intentarla para poder quedarme más tiempo conociendo los lugares que visitaba. Por este intercambio no se recibe compensación económica, pero al momento yo tenía bien trabajado mi blog de Hive y sabía que mis recompensas serían suficientes para gastos como comida o paseos. Decidí intentarlo, todavía algo escéptica por lo que solo había coordinado un contrato de dos semanas para tener la posibilidad de volver a casa en caso de que no me dieran los números. Sin embargo, en total me quedé ahí dos meses completos porque todo salió de maravilla 😃.

That was my first work-for-housing exchange, where I saved a lot of money by not having to pay for my stay. I am now on my sixth such exchange, where I have worked in a total of 7 different establishments doing simple guest reception and cleaning tasks in hostels and hotels. This job takes me a few hours a day, so the rest of the time I spend writing for my blog and other curation tasks within Hive, and of course, wandering around the city where I am momentarily staying. Another economic activity I have is giving private mathematics lessons online, but I must say that I only have a few per week, so my main income is still the earnings from this blog 😃.

Ese fue mi primer intercambio de trabajo por alojamiento, en el que me ahorré bastante dinero al no tener que pagar por la estadía. Al día de la fecha, ya estoy realizando mi sexto intercambio de este tipo, en el que pasé por un total de 7 establecimientos diferentes trabajando en tareas sencillas de recepción de huéspedes y limpieza en hostels y hoteles. Este trabajo me demanda unas pocas horas por día, por lo que el resto del tiempo me dedico a escribir para mi blog y otras tareas de curación dentro de Hive, y por supuesto, pasear un poco por los alrededores de la ciudad en la que estoy momentáneamente alojada. Otra actividad económica que tengo es dar clases particulares de matemática por internet, pero debo decir que solo tengo algunas por semana, así que mi mayor ingreso sigue siendo las ganancias de este blog 😃.

Out of all this year, I was travelling for a total of 10 months. In between, I returned home to Buenos Aires twice for a month each time, in order to celebrate family birthdays and then my own birthday. I like being on the road but I also liked coming home to catch up with my loved ones. In short, this year I travelled more than 15,000 km back and forth, visiting places like San Juan, Ushuaia, Bariloche, El Bolsón, Esquel, Córdoba, Catamarca and Salta, from where I am writing this post. I find it all incredible, but this country Argentina is so beautiful that it makes you want to go everywhere 😂.

De todo este año, estuve viajando por un total de 10 meses. En el medio, volví a mi casa en Buenos Aires dos veces durante un mes cada una, para poder celebrar cumpleaños de mi familia y luego mi propio cumpleaños. Me gusta estar viajando pero también me gustó volver a mi casa para ponerme al día con mis seres queridos. En un resumen, este año me moví más de 15.000 km entre idas y vueltas de acá para allá, visitando lugares como San Juan, Ushuaia, Bariloche, El Bolsón, Esquel, Córdoba, Catamarca y Salta, desde donde estoy escribiendo este post. Me resulta increíble todo, pero es que este país Argentina es tan hermoso que dan ganas de ir para todos lados 😂.

I think I still have enough energy to go on walking a bit more, because I like this kind of travel very much. I was able to meet a lot of new people, visit a lot of beautiful places and get involved with life in other provinces outside Buenos Aires. I'd be lying if I said that sometimes I'm not tired of this rhythm of life, but for days it's just a matter of staying in my bed resting for a while and then being able to see clearly why I'm doing this. I like to be investing this moment of my young life to live this experience, where I have enough resources to do. I don't regret it, and it continues to surprise me because it's something I wouldn't have imagined I could do on my own 😃.

Pienso que todavía tengo bastante energía como para seguir paseando un poco más, porque esta modalidad de viaje me gusta bastante. Pude conocer a un montón de gente nueva, visitar un montón de lugares hermosos e involucrarme con la vida en otras provincias fuera de Buenos Aires. Mentiría si dijera que a veces no estoy cansada de este ritmo de vida, pero por días solo es cuestión de quedarme en mi cama descansando un rato para luego poder ver con claridad por qué estoy haciendo esto. Me gusta estar invirtiendo este momento de mi vida joven para vivir esta experiencia, en donde tengo los recursos suficientes como para hacer. No me arrepiento, y me sigue sorprendiendo porque es algo que no me hubiese imaginado que podía hacer sola 😃.

In terms of travel methods, during this time I have met many travellers who do the same as I do, but no other traveller who pays for their trips thanks to cryptocurrencies or something similar. I think our society is still quite suspicious about this, but when I tell them that it is real and that the fact that I am doing all these trips is made possible thanks to the digital economy, they can't believe it. I will never tire of thanking Hive for this incredible year and for financing my trips in this way: I like to spread the word about our platform so that more people can benefit from it as I have been doing for more than four years ❤️.

En cuando a modalidades de viaje, en este tiempo conocí a muchos viajeros que hacen lo mismo que yo, pero ningún otro que solvente sus paseos gracias a las criptomonedas o algo parecido. Pienso que nuestra sociedad aún se mantiene bastante desconfiada frente a esto, pero cuando les digo que es real y que el hecho de que yo esté haciendo todos estos viajes es concretado gracias a la economía digital, no lo pueden creer. Nunca me voy a cansar de agradecer a Hive por este año increíble y por financiar mis viajes de este modo: me gusta divulgar nuestra plataforma para que más gente pueda beneficiarse de ella así como yo lo estoy haciendo desde hace más de cuatro años ❤️.
