Saludos a toda la comunidad de Full Deportes, hoy vengo con algo diferente, más bien adentrándome en lo que realizo a menudo para mí bienestar físico. Pues en la tarde de este martes fui citado para un encuentro de softball frente a los profesores del departamento de Educación Física, en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas en mi provincia.

Propuesta que a mi personalmente me encantó desde el primer momento, pero obviamente no contaba con un equipo sólido para el partido. Ya que la mayoría de los hombres del departamento de Idiomas al cual pertenezco en la Universidad no son tan amantes al deporte asi como yo, otros pues tenían situaciones personales ajenas a su voluntad.

Llegaba la mañana y yo con mucha ansiedad fui contactando a todo aquel que quisiera jugar en mi equipo, ya que el equipo rival tenia muchísima más preparación y oficio que los que formaban parte de mi equipo, sinceramente era una paliza desde el papel. Ya en la soleada tarde, comenzaron las llamadas a mi móvil para confirmar la asistencia al juego, pero no precisamente de los profesores de mi departamento.

Greetings to all the Full Deportes community, today I come with something different, rather going into what I often do for my physical well-being. Well, this Tuesday afternoon I was summoned to a softball meeting in front of the professors of the Physical Education department, at the University of Medical Sciences in my province.

A proposal that I personally loved from the first moment, but obviously I did not have a solid team for the game. Since most of the men in the Language Department to which I belong at the University are not as fond of sports as I am, others had personal situations beyond their control.

The morning arrived and I anxiously contacted everyone who wanted to play in my team, since the rival team had much more preparation and skill than those who were part of my team, honestly it was a beating from the paper. Already in the sunny afternoon, the calls to my cell phone began to confirm the attendance to the game, but not exactly from the teachers of my department.

Sino mis propios alumnos de la carrera de enfermería en el primer año que querían participar, y con gusto accedí ya que muchos de mis colegas fallaron. Con un renovado equipo llegamos a la Universidad y con esmero comenzamos el calentamiento y discutimos las reglas del terreno.

Al ser el promotor obviamente debía fungir como capitán del conjunto, ubicandome inicialmente como sexto bate pero al surgir un imprevisto tuve que ocupar el segundo turno. Mi equipo comenzó impetuoso anotando 3 carreras en la primera de las 6 entradas que se jugaron, una de esas anotadas fue mía al conectar sencillo previamente.

Sin embargo los profesores respondieron contundente con el doble de carreras, por supuesto no nos rendimos y nos pegamos en el marcador. Pero ellos fueron mucho mejores que nosotros y no pararon hasta fabricar la escandalosa cifra de 27 carreras. A pesar del holgado marcador, mis muchachos también se mostraron puestos con el bate en la mano y fabricamos 13 carreras para demostrar de que estabamos hechos.

But my own first year nursing students wanted to participate, and I gladly agreed since many of my colleagues failed. With a renewed team we arrived at the University and carefully started the warm-up and discussed the ground rules.

Being the promoter I obviously had to act as captain of the team, initially placing myself as the sixth bat, but due to unforeseen circumstances I had to take the second shift. My team started impetuous scoring 3 runs in the first of the 6 innings that were played, one of those runs was mine when I connected a single previously.

However, the professors responded forcefully with a double of runs, of course we didn't give up and we got on the scoreboard. But they were much better than us and did not stop until they scored an outrageous 27 runs. In spite of the big score, my boys also showed their batting prowess and we scored 13 runs to show what we were made of.

Personalmente di 3 hits en 5 turnos con 2 impulsadas, 1 anotada y 2 ponches recibidos. A la defensa fue mi punto más flojo con un error en el campo corto, y dos elevados que no pude capturar por causa del aire. Fue una tarde bastante emotiva y llena de alegría en los rostros de todos los que estábamos presentes, por supuesto fui convocado nuevamente para otro partido ya que mis muchachos se quedaron con la espinita clavada de la derrota.

Personally I gave 3 hits in 5 innings with 2 runs batted in, 1 run scored and 2 strikeouts. Defensively it was my weakest point with an error in the short field, and two pitches that I could not catch because of the air. It was a very emotional afternoon and full of joy in the faces of all of us who were present, of course I was called again for another game since my boys were left with the thorn in their side from the defeat.
