Since it was my free time and Saturday, I decided that it would be good to go to Cebu City to have some time off and also go to new places that I haven’t been since it's been a while since I traveled there. Now for me, I just basically commuted to get there as it’s the most convenient for me and it's less hassle. As I began my journey I noticed that it was less crowded compared to the last time that I went there.
When I arrived the way I moved from one place to another was mainly by walking as it is not actually that far from where I will go as the buildings are not that spread and my goal is to just go to the city museum and just walk on the streets of colon and watch the newly built freedom park and the carbon market where they sell foods to eat and other consumable goods.
First, we went to the Freedom Park and Carbon Market where we just walked for a short distance I expected it to be much bigger but the beauty it shows blends well with the environment it is in especially since it's just near a University school. I just went there to admire it as the landscape of the small garden of the park shows admiration for the park.
Afterward close to the park is the Basilica Minor del Santo Nino de Cebu which was founded in 1565 which is the next place that I will be going and the Magellan’s Cross which is a popular tourist attraction among people. Though it was just a short time for me to be there I still took my time to pray at the church and pay my tribute by lighting a candle. After this, I walked a few hundred meters to the local museum as I hadn’t been there as it was just newly opened and I hadn't had the time to go there.
When I arrived there there was a line for the people to enter as we enter by batch, which is their policy and makes it more organized for them. I was in a hurry to go to the museum as it was scorching hot since it was the middle of the day. When it was finally time for our group to enter I was excited to see the different exhibitions displayed inside and also it will finally be cold as it is really hot outside.
The museum showed the history of Cebu City and the different cultural arts made by different people.
Different items are also displayed there that show the different resources that the island can make and produce and local animals such as birds and fish that are found. Trees that grow on the island are also shown and different types of rocks are found. After this, the next section shows the different historical artifacts that present the history of Cebu and how its traditions changed and enhanced over time from different colonies.
I took my time watching the different artifacts that are displayed in the museum as I find it fascinating on the beauty of the designs of the materials and also wondered how they made such beautiful items in that period. Then I continued my tour and reached the second floor which displays different paintings made by different painters that show the beauty of Filipino art and traditions in the past. Next to this are some miniature models of an old church made displayed for the people to watch.
Since the next section was still closed I decided that it would be time to go home. But I was going home I stopped at the other plaza situated beside the building where there is also a famous building which is an old fort made by the Spaniards back when they still colonized the country. Though I just passed by it watching it from the outside it's still nice. Afterwards, I went and took a ride so I will be going back home
After going home I realized that the truly many different histories made in Cebu city as it has faced different events throughout time and has truly changed compared to its past and its beautiful.
