Cebu residents eagerly anticipate January as it brings the vibrant Sinulog-St. Niño Festival is celebrated every third Sunday. Before the grand celebration, devotees participate in nine days of Novena Mass, with thousands lining up to join the mass in and around the church, demonstrating their devotion to Sr. Sto. Niño, the Holy Child Jesus—I was among them.

On a picturesque Monday afternoon, I joined the Novena Mass with my co-teacher. Riding bus 06B to St. Niño Church, we stopped at Metro in Colon, where vibrant red and yellow banderitas adorned the lively streets.

Navigating closed roads, we joyfully walked to St. Niño amidst the absence of jeepneys, staying cautious of pickpockets in Colon. A 15-minute walk led us to the entrance, where another queue awaited. A ten-minute wait allowed us entry just in time to avoid rain during the mass.

Inside, the solemn and hopeful atmosphere, coupled with the priest's inspiring hymn, made the experience satisfying. Strict rules prevented photos, but I captured the facade post-mass, witnessing devotees expressing strong faith.

Exiting amidst a crowd, we tightly held our bags, and then explored food stalls. Intrigued by affordable mangosteens, we bought a kilo each for 60.00 pesos, seizing the unexpected opportunity.

Following that, we returned home, carrying a sense of fulfillment in our hearts and strengthening our faith in Him.

That’s all for my blog today. My sincerest thanks for taking the time to read and support my blog, until next time. See you!
