Bit of a change this week as I’m up visiting friends in Cheshire for the Easter weekend so we were out at the Beer Emporium a local craft beer establishment, can’t really call it a pub. With an odd assortment of a few miss match chairs and table there is mostly standing room which most of the drinkers there seem to prefer anyway.

The Beer Emporium is an interesting little place and in addition to the number of local cask ales they have on draft they also sell a good selection of local bottled beers. If your in the area it certainly well worth a visit.

One of the beer they had on draft was the Merlins Micro Brewery Spellbound a 4%ABV light bitter and very magical it was to a drinkable brew and well worth testing out a second pint.

Merlins is based at 3 Spring Bank Farm in Arclid just a few miles outside Sandbatch so it’s definitely a local brew so it hasn’t had to travel. The brewery supply a few local craft pubs in the Crewe area and have a good reputation for making fine beers, winning a few medals along the way. All their beers have an Arthurian bent with names like Excalibur, King’s Ale or Merlins Gold. So while I’m here I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more of their beers to sample.
