Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

We have arrived at the weekend, and we have arrived at the first Caturday of 2025! Happy New Year everyone!

We cats were very grateful that the Hoomans decided to take a quiet New Year's Eve at home and they were around to pet us and calm our nerves when any of the fireworks went off outside, in our neighborhood. Since I am an older cat now, I'm not afraid of it anymore, but Shangri and Nala were not as happy about the occasional sudden bangs outside.

Now things have calmed down a bit, and the Hoomans have approached the first few days of the New Year with a light load... which means there's been extra time for kitty scratches and special snacks!

Tomorrow the Hoomans will take down the big tree with all the shiny toys in the enclosed living room, and sadly I only managed to get in there twice during this holiday season. And each time I wasn't even in there long enough to get to play with the toys.

Of course, the Hoomans insist that they are not toys... but what do they know? Shiny shimmery dangly objects on strings are always toys!

Oh well, better luck next year.

Meanwhile, the Dad-Hooman and I have been working a little bit on what we want to accomplish with the Curator Cat blog this year and what my goals for Hive should be.

We fell a little bit short — but only a very small amount — of my goal of reaching 5,000 Hive Power in 2024, ending up at 4,914.458. It's close enough that we're going to continue with our original goal of getting to 6,000 Hive Power by the end of 2025!

That seems like a reasonable goal, and if we actually end up having a good year in the Cryptosphere, maybe I can even officially make it to "Dolphin" status this year. But that's more of a dream than a plan!

I'm part of this community for the long run, and maybe even the very long run... with our young Shangri potentially being the heir apparent to the "Curator cat" title. But I am only approaching nine years old, so I have many good years yet to come!

More than anything, we are planning to put a little more attention into our Hive Cats Community which — even though it has 340 subscribers — does not see as much activity as we would like it to.

We're not going to go as far as to go all-out crazy and issue tokens and start a new front end, but we are going to spend more time promoting cat related content on Hive, and generally making a little bit noise to encourage people to share photos and stories of their Feline friends on Caturday or more often.

After all, cats are the unofficial mascots of the Internet so why shouldn't they be the unofficial mascots of the blockchain as well? Web 3.0, here we come!

Anybody who has spent any time at all perusing YouTube, Tiktok or Instagram knows that there are billions of pieces of cat content out there!

Shangri has become quite a LARGE cat

As I write these words, I see that our Hive token has crept up towards $0.50, which is something we haven't seen in a very long time... since March 2024, and we're not far from levels not seen since 2022!

Of course (as usual!) I'm not holding my breath on these sudden upticks... they have a way of collapsing back on themselves, although they definitely seem to have become more frequent in recent months.

Smudge... always hard to get in focus. There's just something about that mottled fur...

In the meantime, our old lady kitty Smudge keeps hanging in there, and will soon be celebrating her 20th birthday... she's doing remarkably well for her age. And she definitely enjoyed bring the only cat allowed in the Christmas tree room — one of the fringe benefits of being too old to jump!

And with that, I'm going to take myself back to my napping position in the Mom-Hooman's lap, while she watches TV! I hope everyone had a wonderful Caturday, and I wish you a great Sunday... and thanks for coming to visit our blog!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
