Privacy & Then Some.

in Drone4 months ago

Hi fellow Hiveans!

Whilst scrolling through IG, I saw this location in a reel and found it interesting. Mainly for never visiting the Cotswolds but also Cirencester in Gloucestershire is a large town in the heart of it. Also intriguing is the owner of this manor grew an Yew tree hedge for privacy back in the 1700's!

It takes two people two weeks to trim the entire 40ft hedge. The cuttings are sold to pharmaceutical companies- a key ingredient used in cancer drugs, paclitaxel (Taxol) is extracted from yew trees is used for chemotherapy drugs to fight several types of cancers.

Of course there is a Guinness World Record for the 'tallest yew hedge in the world' because, why not?!

There is a property in Scotland that holds the title of 'tallest hedge in the world'. I like quirky, random things like that so I added it to my list just incase I head up that way in the future!

The grounds are absolutely massive- 15,000 acres stretching far beyond the horizon seen in all the shots in this post.

Wow, quite a spot of land they have there. That hedge is amazing, and even more cool that it has added health value beyond just the privacy and looks.
