What Is The Proper way to Pray

The whole idea of prayer is asking God for something that we cannot do ourselves or seems impossible to achieve. The fourth chapter of the Book of Philippians, verse 6, gives us a detailed explanation of how a proper prayer should be structured. God laid out this preset himself.

The first thing God tells us is to not be anxious for anything. Whatever we are expecting from God, we should not be anxious for it. Maybe we are hoping on God for something that has a deadline, and it looks like the deadline is approaching fast and it seems like nothing is happening. God says we shouldn't be anxious.

Instead of developing anxiety, God admonishes us to bring before him prayers, supplications, and thanksgiving while making our request known to him. God's attention is gotten when we make prayers and supplications to him, complemented with Thanksgiving.

We are expected to start giving God thanks even in the process of prayers and not until the prayers get answered. Forming a habit of Thanksgiving speeds up the process of God answering our prayers. Thanking God before receiving answers to your prayers is a clear proof that you believe that God can do what you're asking him to do.

Any prayer we make without believing is incomplete; it lacks faith. And the book of Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 6, tells us it is impossible to please God without faith.
Faith is a key factor that should be attached to every prayer we make to God. God makes use of our "believe" to grant us our requests.

James, chapter 1, verse 6, tells us further of how needed faith is when we pray. It also says that whoever wavers when he prays and thinks that he'll receive an answer from God is deceiving himself.
We should do away with any form of doubt, fear, or negativity—as these are signs of someone who wavers in prayer—whenever we pray to God.

We should bear in mind that our Father in heaven is a principled God, a God of order. When dealing with him, we should seek the right manner in which we should go. We don't act the way we feel and expect results, it doesn't work that way.

We are assured of answered prayers as long as we do away without anxiety and doubts and put faith in their place. May God help us to exercise faith more often. God bless brother Eli!
