The Earth was made perfectly by God. It was not like this in the beginning. First of all, I want to invite your attention to what happened during the time of Noah. It was accepted as a global flood. A global flood, not a local flood.
A flood is most often a natural disaster but a local flood may be caused by the breaking up of a dam, just like what happened some time ago in a particular place where a broken dam washed up a whole village. It cannot be called a natural disaster but a man-made disaster. This could be as a result of the use of inferior construction materials by man.
But in Noah's case, it was a natural disaster;
In the book of Genesis 7:11;
"In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened."
In order to sustain the flood that will eliminate all flesh, save those that were in the ark, according to the Bible, in the 600th year of Noah's life, in the second month, the 17th day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up. This is what we now call the flood.
It is what science calls the tectonic plates of the earth. They are broken. And whenever these tectonic plates are moving, it may cause earthquakes. That is what science now understands. But let us go back in history when the fountains of the great deep were broken up, the aqueous layer of the earth was broken, and water came rushing from deep down below, to the surface of the earth. There is rain coming from heaven, 40 days and 40 nights, that sustained the greatest flood ever recorded in human history.
Only Noah in the ark and his family were saved, what is our understanding of such disasters that started in the time of Noah? Biblically speaking, these disasters were insinuated by human transgressions.
In the book of Genesis chapter 6, Noah was called by God and was ordered to prepare an ark for the salvation of himself and his family, because the end of all flesh is come before me, for the earth is filled with violence through them. And behold, I will destroy them with the earth, God said unto Noah.
The Earth was made by God perfectly, Genesis 1:31 of the book of Genesis.
"And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."
The Earth was very good. Everything that God had made was very good, in perfect condition. The Earth is not meant to be shaken by earthquakes. But why are there earthquakes now? Why are there tsunamis? Why are there natural disasters that affect humanity as a whole? It is insinuated by man's transgression, man's sins.
