First of all I would like to thank you for allowing me to express myself in this community that I just met since I recently started in Hive, I think this will be one of the communities in which I will participate more because I am an assiduous reader and a frustrated writer (I have always said it). Today, as the first publication in this community, I would like to make a review of a book that left me pleasantly surprised.
En primer lugar me gustaría agradecer por permitirme expresar en esta comunidad que acabo de conocer ya que recientemente empecé en Hive, pienso que esta será una de las comunidades en las cual participaré más debido a que soy un lector asiduo y un escritor frustrado (siempre lo he dicho) Hoy, como primera publicación en esta comunidad, me gustaría hacer una review de un libro que me dejó gratamente sorprendido.
But before I give my opinion, I would like to give you a short summary to give you some context.
Pero antes de dar mi opinión me gustaría hacer un pequeño resumen para darles contexto
The events of the Second World War were undoubtedly events that marked the world and left a mark on the depths of humanity, so much so that today, even those of us who did not live through those events remember how Europe was ruined, not only in its infrastructure but also in the psyche of those who survived that horror.
Los acontecimientos ocurridos durante la segunda guerra mundial fueron sin duda alguna acontecimientos que marcaron al mundo y dejaron una huella en lo más profundo de la humanidad, tanto que hoy en día, aún los que no vivimos dichos acontecimientos recordamos como arruinaron a Europa, no solo en su infraestructura sino además en la psique de quienes sobrevivieron a ese horror.
It is incredible to know that a man, instead of using all his intelligence to change the world for the better, did the opposite, for evil and for his own satisfaction, but even more incredible was that millions and millions of people kept encouraging him to carry out this great genocide.
Es increíble saber que un hombre, en vez de usar toda su inteligencia en cambiar el mundo para bien, lo hizo para todo lo contrario, para el mal y para satisfacción propia, pero más increíble aún era que millones y millones de personas lo seguían alentando para consumar ese gran genocidio.
Literary works such as The Winter of the World remind us of all these events through its characters where the author relives this bloody history of horror that many human beings lived through and that marked their existence forever. Following the stories of the Dewar, Peshkov, Rouzrokh and Fitzherbert families, among others, is very interesting. Characters such as Daisy and Lloyd Williams perfectly embody each event, taking us to relive each story.
Obras literarias como El Invierno del Mundo nos recuerdan todos estos acontecimientos a través de sus personajes donde el autor revive esa sangrienta historia de horror que vivieron muchos seres humanos y que marcaron su existencia para siempre . Seguir las historias que integran las familias Dewar, Peshkov, Rouzrokh y Fitzherbert, entre otros es por demás interesante. Personajes como Daisy y Lloyd Williams encarnan a la perfección cada acontecimiento, llevándonos a revivir cada historia.
I must admit that this type of literature was not to my liking, due to the cruel and crude stories expressed by the survivors, but at the insistence of my daughter @mairene1 who is an avid reader of this type of literature, I forced myself to read The Winter of the World, where I must admit that the author immersed me with his characters into the depths of each story, it is impressive how he focuses directly on each one of them and each story, so that the reader does not want to stop reading in order to find out what comes next.
Debo reconocer que este tipo de literatura no era de mi agrado, debido a lo cruel y crudo de los relatos expresados por los sobrevivientes, pero por insistencia de mi hija @mairene1 quien es una ávida lectora de este tipo de literatura, me obligué a leer El Invierno del Mundo, donde debo reconocer que su autor me sumergió con sus personajes a lo más profundo de cada historia, es impresionante como enfoca directamente cada una de ellas y cada relato, de modo que el lector no quiere dejar la lectura para poder saber que viene después.
It is really impressive how Kent Follett narrates through his characters the details of each story, leading us to feel affection for some of his characters and total and absolute contempt for others. Such is the effect on the reader that it seems that instead of reading we are in front of a screen. At the end of the book I was pleasantly surprised and eager to continue reading the works of this great writer.
Es realmente impresionante como Kent Follett narra a través de sus personajes los detalles de cada historia, llevándonos a sentir afecto por algunos de sus personajes y desprecio total y absoluto por otros. Tal es el efecto del lector que pareciera que en vez de leer estuviéramos frente a una pantalla. Al final de la obra quedé gratamente sorprendido y con ganas de seguir leyendo las obras de este gran escritor.
Conclusion/Conclusión
