Hello everyone, recently, while browsing through some books, I came across one that initially caught my attention because of its size and the visual design on its cover. Without thinking twice, I gave it a quick look and decided to buy it to add to my small collection. So, today I'll tell you a little about this new book I'm about to start reading, which is "The Rebellion and Other Stories by Rómulo Gallegos."
Hola a todos, recientemente, buscando un poco por curiosear en algunos libros, me topé con uno que en principio me llamó la atención por su tamaño y ese diseño visual que tenía en su portada, por lo que sin pensar le di una pequeña revisión y decidí adquirirlo para que forme parte de mi pequeña colección, así que bueno, hoy les mostraré un poco sobre ese nuevo libro que empezaré a leer, el cual es "La rebelión y otros cuentos de Rómulo Gallegos".
This book is a compilation by the El Dorado Public Library, published in 1972 by Monte Ávila Editores. It contains 24 representative short stories by Rómulo Gallegos, including "The Liberation," "The Adventurers," "The Old Piano," "The Dead City," "A Mystic," "The Teacher," "The Rebellion," "The Emigrants," "The Support," and several others, all of which aim to highlight each of Gallegos's works. What surprised me most was the sheer variety of stories it contains, despite the book's size. Furthermore, the print isn't too small; it's a font that's not excessive but doesn't strain the eyes at all, which I appreciate, as I tend to have somewhat sensitive vision.
Este libro es una compilación por parte de la Biblioteca Popular El Dorado en el año 1972, por Monte Ávila Editores, la cual trae una compilación de 24 cuentos representativos de Rómulo Gallegos, entre los que se encuentran: "La liberación", "Los aventureros", "El piano viejo", "La ciudad muerta", "Un místico", "El maestro", "La rebelión", "Los emigrantes", "El apoyo" y varios otros, que buscan realzar cada obra escrita por Rómulo Gallegos. Y es que algo que me sorprendió es que, pese al tamaño del libro, es la gran variedad de historias que trae, y que estas incluso no están en un formato de letras pequeñas, sino en uno que siento que no es exagerado, pero no molesta para nada la vista, cosa que agradezco, ya que suelo ser algo delicada con esta.
As I mentioned at the beginning, one of the things I really liked was the cover illustration, which references several of the stories in the book in an abstract drawing style. The combination of the red tones and the overall style made it visually appealing, as did the lettering, which, beyond simply identifying the book, allows the visual art to truly stand out. Another thing is that, despite its age, this book has held up remarkably well, especially since the inner pages are quite thin and, apart from a few pages at the beginning and end, haven't acquired that typical yellowing that some books develop over time.
Como dije en un inicio, una de las cosas que me gustó mucho es la ilustración de su portada, siendo una referencia a varios de los cuentos que se encuentran en el libro en un formato de dibujo abstracto, y la combinación tanto de los colores en rojo como el estilo hizo que fuera visualmente atractivo, así como también las letras que, más allá de buscar dar ese identificativo, hacen que el arte visual sea lo que resalte. Y algo más es que, pese a su tiempo de publicación, este libro se conserva muy bien, debo decir, y más porque las hojas internas son bastante delgadas y se han mantenido sin adquirir, más allá de algunas hojas del inicio y el final, ese típico aspecto amarillo que algunos libros con tiempo y años obtienen.
Likewise, I also think it's fantastic and a great touch that they've included a small section about the life and work of Rómulo Gallegos—brief, but with key points like his academic background, his works, and his most important messages. This is a book to read slowly, and I've certainly started slowly, since, aside from his most well-known works, I hadn't had the opportunity to own a book with a variety of this author's writings. This satisfies my desire to expand my collection, and I also adore books of this size. So, as I continue reading, I'll probably be able to share more about this book, which I think is a great find so far. Thank you very much for reading this post.
Así mismo, también me parece genial y un acierto que tengan un pequeño apartado donde esté plasmado un poco de la vida y obra de Rómulo Gallegos, algo breve, pero con puntos claves como su formación académica, sus obras y sus mensajes más importantes. Este es un libro para leer despacio y ciertamente he empezado de a poco, puesto que, personalmente, aparte de los más conocidos, no había tenido la oportunidad de tener un libro con variedad de obras de este autor, cosa que hasta cierto punto me satisface ese gusto en cuanto a mi colección, además de adorar los libros en estos tamaños, así que bueno, posiblemente conforme avance con la lectura podré compartirle más cosas de este libro que de primeras me parece un buen acierto, así que sin más, muchas gracias por leer este post.
