I forgot to mention that this book is a part of a trilogy (French Trilogy), but each book has different characters, so they can be read as standalone books. The titles of the first two books are The Girl at the Lion d'Or and Birdsong. I've read them all, but Charlotte Gray is my favorite, though it can be a heavy read with all those historical facts and details about the Holocaust.
