BROMO HILLSIDE: deck with 360 degree views of the caldera complex

GridArt_20240717_115533829.jpg

The highlands never run out of charm. That's the impression I always get every time I visit Malang. In fact, seven years ago I had visited this city as well as to climb the highest mountain in East Java, Mount Semeru.

Somehow, this time there was a different impression. In the past, I remember Malang being so cold, this time I felt not so much. Even though both now and seven years ago, the time when I visited was the same, which was July. However, highlands are still highlands, right? The air will still feel fresh and the scenery as far as the eye can see will still be green and refreshing. A refreshing combination of this atmosphere is a warm cup of coffee, right? And... it just so happens that the crew of the open trip we used recommended a coffee spot with the best view: the landscape of the caldera complex of Bromo Tengger Semeru national park. This place is very viral and popular with tourists from inside and outside the city. However, what I would like to review here is the layout, and exterior design of the following unique building.

BROMO HILLSIDE

Still in the tourist area of Mount Bromo, this Bromo Hillside cafe is a cafe that presents different experiments from its visitors. Therefore, while I was in the Bromo area, I went here. However, it should be underlined, that to enter the Bromo Hillside area is not free. Each visitor is charged an entrance fee of 50,000 rupiah. We will get a card and a bracelet. The card is to be exchanged for a welcome drink & snack.

  • BOTH SIDES OF THE STURDY IRON STAIRS

Towards the welcome drink and snack redemption area, visitors pass through a staircase that is on two sides. It's up to the visitor to choose either direction, as the base will be the same. The iron we passed was made of sturdy staircase, then the steps were made with wood. Visitors don't need to worry because this is really very sturdy and safe.

After that, there is an entrance that reads ‘Welcome’ guarded by a local officer. This area is for confirmation and wristband wearing, then the officer directs you to the first floor. The roof of the pass door has a concave roof design in the centre. Towards the first floor of the pass, there is a staircase made of cement and stone, and the banister is consistently made of iron.

  • WELCOME DRINK AND SNACK EXCHANGE AREA

At the base of the stone staircase is a semi-outdoor room used to exchange cards for welcome drinks and snacks. There are two choices of drinks: tea and iced lemon tea. As for the snacks, there are also two options: potato wedges and fried dumplings. I chose the potato wedges and iced lemon tea.

While relaxing with drinks and snacks, visitors can sit anywhere, as there are plenty of seats available. Some even directly overlook the savanna landscape. In addition, on the first floor, there is a place of worship for Muslims. There is an ablution place and a musalah that is very clean and comfortable.

Before moving on to the next floor, I was impressed by the decoration of plants in small pots hung on a metal frame.

  • CENTRE FLOOR WITH OUTDOOR SEATING AND LUXURIOUS VIEWS

On the next floor, is an open space set up to sit and enjoy the surrounding scenery. From here, visitors can see the peak of Mount Semeru, which puffs smoke every few minutes. What I was grateful for was the sunny weather. So, I could feel the warm sunlight but the cool air.

This area is dominated by brown colours and wood and iron materials. Almost all the chairs and tables in this area are made of wood. There are long table and chair sets with shoulder rests, and some long table sets with square chairs without backs.

Other chair designs are curved with no backrest. This area can accommodate many visitors. When the place first opened, it was almost always full, especially during weekends and school holidays.

  • TOP DECK AND 360 DEGREE VIEW

IMG_20240717_124118.jpg

The most promising thing about Bromo Hillside is that visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view from the top deck. Hm... I'm not saying it's beautiful, but the experience of being on the top deck with the view of Teletubbies hill, Widodaren hill, savannah, and the peak of Mount Semeru really makes my heart warm.

This circular deck is made of very sturdy iron material and also wood for the floor in the inner circle. For the outer circle, it is made of 100 per cent iron which is very strong. In addition, you can see that an iron rod that is united from all sides is joined to a pole in the centre of the circle. This aims to strengthen and minimise the vibrations felt when visitors set foot in the outer circle of the deck.

Visitors can be satisfied taking pictures from any angle, because all angles of this deck have a beautiful background view.

In addition to the long iron that pulls all sides to the centre of the circle, you can also see the iron framework that supports the circle of this deck. So visitors don't need to worry. Maybe this is a bit not recommended for those of you who are afraid of heights, guys. He hehe
Looks like that's all my review of Bromo Hillside, next ... where else are we going?

The view is awesome... and make me forgot bout the entry ticket was pricey..

The entrance ticket price is worth it or not, but... for one visit it's okay.
