Venezia: beautiful Italian façades on the water

A unique and magical city, which remains suspended over the water, and we see its beauty reflected as if it were the most magnificent mirage. This is the beautiful Italian city of Venezia or Venice. A wonderful place that fascinates us all.

Not only for its serene canals crossed by gondolas and boats, but also for that fantastic architecture that appears before us on the facades of the buildings, an elegant and charming architecture that stands with dignity on wooden posts above the water from other times of the past.

And it seems that we travel to the past in that sense, when we look at that beautiful palatial, Renaissance, Baroque or neoclassical style, etc. that is shown to us while we tour the city, whether sailing or walking. The experience is remarkable and always unforgettable.

And if we look closely, we look up at those incredible windows with such a particular design that tells us they were made in another era where good taste for the refined was predominant. We dream of another era, we feel and we think... who would look at the canals through them?

We continue to focus on more details, on their shapes, on the varied colours of their walls that combine with each other despite their aesthetic differences, and despite the different styles, the different periods and types. Because all these majestic buildings have something special in common, a certain bucolic air with the plants that accompany them, which harmonizes the entire architectural ensemble that Venice gives us and which our eyes appreciate.

Saint Marcus Square (Piazza San Marco)

We can only be more amazed when we reach the impressive heart of the city, its wonderful basilica, the Basilica di San Marco, with fantastic golden details, and thousands of filigrees, arches, domes and other architectural elements (I think, from Byzantine style) that make up this spectacular monument.

And there are always people in front, even when the tide is high and the water enters the square (the "acqua alta" moment), but Venice coexists majestically with the water, creating an unrepeatable image, that same water beautifies all the beauty built on top.

And what can we say about the imposing Tower of San Marco that seems to protect the basilica, as well as the beautiful and elegant Doge's Palace, which is exquisitely decorated, with that portico of windows with flowers at the top, right on the edge of the water.

There is always more to see and admire, other imposing buildings that we cannot miss. A striking façade with its columns, which is not overshadowed by everything we have seen previously, another style and another function, is the Church of Santa Maria de Nazareth. Another jewel of heritage that can sometimes go unnoticed, until we get there and see it head on.

And of course another fascinating place, more popular because its great dome stands out in the Venetian skyline of the Grand Canal, and from the Rialto Bridge, is the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute.

This gorgeous monument is certainly one of my favorites, for its shape, for its profuse and elaborate decorations, and especially, for what it represents, for giving us that serene horizon full of splendor, elegance and majesty, in a magical city, full of beauty and impressive architecture such as the beautiful Venice.

We serenely say goodbye to the architectural beauty that emerges from the water like a marvelous miracle, with a unique sensation, in love with the fascination it provokes in us and the desire it leaves us to continue looking at all those façades, walking through mysterious streets and sailing through the charming canals.
