For the better part of a decade, we've all been very aware about the negative impacts of social media on children and youth and it has been very hard to control that Pandoras Box.
So to combat this, the Australian Government has taken some drastic measures which I am not sure how it will pan out. They have just introduced a bill to ban all children 16 and younger from social media which as the bill suggests is a drastic measure indeed.
But is this the right way to move forward?
Right now, there is a lot of discussion and vocal concerns going around against the government as according to them it’s a violation to their Privacy and Right to Freedom, but I beg to differ.
You see I have seen first hand as to how Social Media destroys the mind of Children’s and Youths as just a couple days ago a Teenage boy fled from his home to find a Job in another State which is around 4000 miles away from his home just because his Father refused to buy him an iPhone 16 Pro Max with which he was going to make Instagram Reels.
So yeah I would definitely be looking into how this Bill plays out for Australia.
Now speaking about if this Social Media Ban for Children is something that could actually be done, I feel like the ruling party would most definitely incur the wrath of Socialites and Public in general and if they want to make this Bill a success they would have to stick to their guts no matter the consequences that will come.
