When I see this topic of discussion, the younger me was going to skip until I remember I’d be adding another year by the 21st of September. Babe! I’m not getting younger.
I am a young lady that grow up in a monogamous family. Just with my mom, dad and my siblings. And the values we hold so dearly in my home is hard work and contentment. We do not be get jealous of people because we believe that, comparing of our achievements to people that are doing better than us might make us become ungrateful. Our parent trained us in such a way to become independent.
There’s a popular saying that ‘ give everyone that meet you the chance to pray for those who raised you’ this is the way of telling people to be well mannered in such a way that their parents would be proud of them.
In 200 level, we did a particular course about parenting style. And I came across a topic that shows different types of parenting. They were divided into three part; authoritarian, authoritative and permissive.
Authoritarian parenting is a type where parents are perceived to be so domineering. Although , they provide everything needed by their children but they enjoy having a total control of their children’s life. Make them available at their beck and call and make them serve punishment if they disobey. I would not like to choose this type of parenting because the children are tend to have low self esteem and inability to make decisions themselves. They might live their lives pleasing people even when they are not okay with it.
I also checked permissive parenting. This sounded like the worst of it. Because children are left to do their wishes. Just because I do not want to be a domineering parents should not make me become negligence of what’s excepted of me as a parent. I have learnt that unlimited freedom does not mean parental care, it is simply parental negligence.
Authoritarian parenting should have been what everyone will adopt but we all have our differences, ranging from the kind of family we come from, we might want to choose to make our children not experience the same due to the consequences it has it our lives.
Authoritarian parenting is just a considerable way of parenting, Giving maximum support as well as giving listening ears to the children but do not always accept probably due to their experience.
As a young lady with a vision of making a home a safe place for my children, I’ll have to adopt all parenting style. Yes! Raising children is the hardest thing to do. It’s a continuous responsibility as parents will always be held accountable for their children misdeed no matter how much they explain because there is no evidence, haha .
Being an authoritarian parent when the child want to adopt an unacceptable behavior. Switching to permissive whenever It is necessary and authoritative whenever they need me.
I want to be my children’s best friend, mentor and teacher.
Being your children best friend is a better way to raise them as they will relate with you as friend too
That's a proper way of parenting. Thanks @divabright

You have a better way of raising your children be their teacher, friend and mentor that's Lovely they wouldn't be scared to tell you anything.
You know that kind of feeling when a child is feeling so down and they have you to talk to. That's such a beautiful thing.
