Well I guessed this is not even a debate because the answer is obviously obvious lol... or is it only me that's not seeing any argument or maybe it's because am from nigeria.
From my view, I guess the debate should be between a million dollars or passport, I mean who would want to ruin his State of well-being by picking education in Nigeria over hustling abroad, it's a NO for me.
I hail from Nigeria, Africa where education has become so valueless, lots of graduates roaming around the street with nothing to speak about. Gone are the days when undergraduate would have gotten a job even before graduation, when unemployment was not for the educated but things are otherwise now, they tricked us by telling us “Education is the best legacy”, we all went adore falling into their truck whereas, they have nothing to offer.
I am not disputing the fact that education is good, of course it is! but I have come to realize you have just started to face like after graduation tetiary institution, the hustle begins like someone that never went to school, this is so disheartening and I was wondering why would I even go for PHD instead of trying to pursuit how I will find my way out of the country.
The rate at which people from Africa migrates to Europe is so alarming to the extent that Europe is getting full already, why? we all know the reasons. Even government workers receiving good salary structure are finding it hard to find their way out of the country, private business are suffering and lots more, what more someone trying to PHD, what is your hope after the PHD?
More so, the rate of currency conversion of European currency to Nigeria is not encouraging at all, so it's better being an hustler abroad to a common trader or even government worker over here. I don't see any reason to further over here compared to finding my way out. I have seen a car dealer, high grade government worker, a company owner, a banker leave thier job in Nigeria to go and work overseas.
As a Nigerian graduate migrating to abroad, it's easy to work a part time job to cater for your needs without affecting your studies compared to Africa where that will never work.
Education has never been the problem, but the leaders are, the type of leaders ruling a nation will determine the state of well being of the people.
Nigeria is a nation filled with leaders that are forcefully elected. they do not even have what it takes to be a leader, is it education, emotion, phycological reasoning, attitude..they do not posses any of this attribute, all they care for is just being elected. Indirectly they're bringing a setback to the economy at large. Someone who forged a certificate is expected to have a plan for graduate...lol, and this correlates to almost every nation in Africa, we are already blindfolded with culture and religion forgetting the right thing must be done.
Okay I wouldn’t say education has become valueless because a lot of people are using their certificates to work in Africa and some are well paid.
But I understand where you are coming from
If you understand what I really meant, you would agree with me
Understanding someone doesn’t really mean you should agree with the person..but thanks, I’ll keep that in mind next time
