Painting Disney Villains || The victims of injustices

I grew up believing that life should be viewed from a gentle point of view. That life is full of colors and fun. That endings are always happy. That kindness will always save the day. That hard work equals success. And that villains have always been evils.

But I realized, life has different stories. Life is so hard to comprehend. Growing up, I admired princesses. You wouldn't believe how hard I sing "A dream is a wish your heart makes" every morning, lmao.

But, upon reading and exploring, I was influenced that some villains are victims of injustices. Since then, I've admired a few of their characters: bold, fierce, confident, and goal-oriented. However, I still hold them accountable for their evil actions.

The process

Disney Villains painting.png

This is my extraordinary canvas: styrofoam! I created this art as a project for one of my subjects. I was tasked to make my bulletin board where I could pin my tasks.

As a people-pleasing person that time, I've exerted extra miles of effort more than I was required to, hehe. I dunno why, but my hand looks weird here, lol.

I used several brushes, a palette, a pencil, and acrylic paints. The brushes cost me around Php 50-100 ($0.99 - 1.98) from thrift and online stores. I also bought my palette and acrylic paint here and here that cost me a total of Php 320 ($6.32). And the pencil cost me nothing, lmao. Look at my pencil (the yellow one on the left side)🤣

Like how I paint, I started sketching my villains using a pencil, and then I thickened the sketches by adding a layer of pen. I'm a slow worker. It took me around one-hour to sketch each villain. So, this piece took me nine (9) hours to finish, lmao. 😅

After sketching, I proceeded to paint each villain. I'm not really good at complementing colors. I have yet to study the color theory, hehe. It took me almost five (5) hours to paint each villain, which includes waiting for the layers of colors to dry before adding another layer of paint.

Say hi to my other artwork peeking at the left! 💕 I've no room where I can display my arts. So, either I stick it to the wall or throw it in the trash, hehe. Will soon buy a notebook full of watercolor papers!

I feel so proud of this progress that I even posted it in my stories 😍 In my mind, I'm saying, "A few more days to go, and this will be awesome!"

I'm also thinking at that time that the final result should be awesome. Painting this brought me a lot of ergonomic hazards (back pain), lol.

The result

Disney Villains painting.png

Finally! After weeks of juggling my time, I finished it. From left to right starting from the top:

The evil queen | Maleficient | Ursula
Jafar | Captain Hook | Claude Frollo | Prince Hans
Yzma | Mother Gothel

As seen in my art, the faces of The Evil queen and mother Gothel are unfinished. I tried fixing them, but they kept getting worse. The struggle of painting in styrofoam is it's hard to mix colors. That's why I decided not to touch them anymore coz it might get worse.

My all-time favorite paintings

men villains.png

I love all the men villains I painted! The color combination I've done for them is superb! Especially their skin tones! Like, how did I even achieve this? I, too, was amazed that I did this.

And of course, I love these two, too! I was amazed at how I played with purple paint by mixing red, blue, and white that time because the acrylic paint I bought does not have purple, hehe.

I hope you enjoy my art, everyone! Let me know what I should paint next!

For Christmas, I'm planning to paint my relatives using watercolor as gifts. But I do not have time T^T Let me know your tips and tricks on doing watercolor art! 💕

Disclaimer: All the Disney villains were patterned from what I saw on Pinterest and Google. Sadly, I can't locate them. Let me know your feedback!

Wow, you're a fantastic painter and writer, ate!
I used to assume that all villains were wicked and evil, but as I've gotten older, I've realized that we can all detest them because we all have bad sides and prior scars. This was an excellent read😊❤️

Ihhh, thank youuu! 💕

because we all have bad sides and prior scars...
-- Yes! I used to think din na they are to blame for their behavior. But their past and their scars are dark din pala that urge them to assume that revenge will always be the solution. Thank youuuu for appreciating my work 😍

I am delighted to see the wicked witch that took Aeriel's voice made it :D

I was amazed too that I properly painted her 🤣 I wouldn't risk my life disrespecting the sea witch (she might steal my hand, lol). Thank you for stopping by!

Your paintings look fantastic! I love that you've given villains the recognition they deserve; I mean, they're villains after all, but still, they give the story a great twist.

Hala, slr, thank you so much! Fell in love with the villains, especially their back story, hehe. 🤍

Yay! 🤗
