Definitely technical skill plays into the reason why I stray away from pops of bright color. I feel like the eye is pulled right to it and if I didn't apply it right then it could be an "Eye Sore" instead of something cool. As I practice more, I am becoming a little more adventurous.

Not sticking to one particular subject and just going with the flow seems to work for me.. Maybe because I am more of a hobby artist than trying to paint what sells.
