Gods Unchained F2P Welcome/Core Nature Deck

in Gods On Chain3 years ago

I'm making a decklist/card guide on Hive aimed at new players of Gods Unchained. I'm one of the top ~200 players of GU and also known as iceysquid#1529 on discord and squidsquidsquidsquid on twitch.Inspired by Copperpitch (https://www.youtube.com/c/CopperPitch), TeamTST (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-j8M7RvMzIbSqWIEhqT8Sg), and wasper (https://ecency.com/@wasper)

Nature is probably the best God to start with since a lot of their Welcome and Core (WelCore) cards are at common and rare and the strategy is straight-forward.

image.png If you're are just starting out, here is a Welcome deck, an upgrade over the default starter deck. Check out gudecks for the card descriptions and other decklists. https://gudecks.com/decks/7072

image.pngHere's a sample decklist with only common and rare WelCore cards, easily accessible to anyone starting out. https://gudecks.com/decks/5993

image.pngOnce you've won some weekend ranked reward Divine Order Packs, you can start building up to something like this. https://gudecks.com/decks/7073

tldr: Play big creatures, trade up, win board
Changes are based on how aggressive/what kind of style deck you want.
This card guide is aimed at players who are familiar with TCGs/ played Hearthstone or MTG before so I won't explained card game terms like tempo or card advantage.
Leave a comment for the next decklist you want or any cards I should go over more.

Nature cards generally have good stats for mana cost making them mana efficient e.g. high impact low cost; the goal of the deck is to use that to make good trades then overwhelm your opponent with creatures.
Mulligan for cards on curve. Marsh Walker buffed with Shieldbearer can win games. Going second look for reactive cards like canopy barrage and axewoman.

WelCore Decklist Explanation:

  • Marsh Walker, Wild Hog, Black Jaguar, Skeleton Heavy, Overgrown Rhino, Bladefly, Green Giant, Wild Hog, Skeleton Heavy: Efficient Creatures
  • Canopy Barrage: Efficient removal, 2 mana for 4 damage trades up or maintains tempo
  • Lightning Strike: 8 damage to one creature for 3 mana, Kills big creatures for cheap, have to play around the randomness
  • Nefarious Briar: Removes 4 durability from opponent's relic destroying most relics, also has decent stats and regen
  • The Hunt: Flexible removal, deals 1 damage 8 times for 6 mana, lets you pick off a bunch of low-health creatures or 1 big creature
  • Charging Oryx: Good stats, comes down and immediately attacks on summon killing a creature usually or goes face for 7 to finish off the opponent
  • Trial Spirit, Shieldbearer: Buffs a creature to trade up
  • Vanguard Axewoman: Neutral Blitz lets you react to your opponent creatures
  • Ogre Archer: Deals 3 damage on a body, letting you come back from behind

General Upgrades:
WelCore Epic & Legendary:

  • Faeflame Blade: has 2 more durability over staff of roots,
  • Managarmr, Moon Hound: refreshes mana on attack so your opponent has to kill it before you can use it otherwise you'll refresh mana and play more cards
  • Wildfire: deals 1 damage to your opp creatures and buffs your wild creatures

Cheap:

  • Rabid Bear, Starving Sabertooth, Brazen Moose: more efficient creatures
  • Ornery Goat: deals 2 damage to an opponent's creatures at the start of your turn, so if your opponent can't kill it it will
  • Celestial Stag: generates a card every time you play a creature
  • Jaguar Staff: deals with your opponent's creatures and summons black jaguars

Expensive:

  • Finnian Fruitbearer: gives you a vibrant fruit every turn you attack the opponent,
  • Chiron, the Teacher: 3rd shieldbearer and relic removal
  • Underbrush Boar: one of the best 2 drops, good stats and immediately trades up or trades evenly
  • Pyramid Warden: amazing stats, 4 mana statline for 2 mana, can play around afterlife if it dies before your opponent has a creature in the void to get back
  • Selena, Champion of Nature: hard to kill, generates value thru pinging creatures

Filler/Replacements:
Decent cards to run if you missing the recommmended cards.

  • Pyreshell Beetle, Tribal Orc: wild 1 drops
  • Dryder Sailweaver: ward protects it from some removal
  • Mire Bloodworm: Has frontline but 1 attack is low impact
  • Hunt Warden, Wetlands Ogre, Helios Battlesworn: Vanilla curve fillers

Tokens:
Expectant Chicken, Best Friends, Druidic Summons: Summons multiple creatures
Crescent Werewolf: Good with low cost creatures, refreshes mana to play more creatures

Buffs:
With buffs you want to run a low curve so you can get board early to buff up.
Firewine: gives +2 attack letting you finish off the opponent or trade up with your creatures
Trial of the Hydra: gives +1/+1 and regen on wild creatures making them stickier
Gloam Druid: gives +2 attack to confused creatures, big buff for low cost
Untamed Regrowth: refreshes mana letting you play a creature and buff it easier

Relic Removal:
Nefarious Briar: good body and removes 4 durability
Iron-tooth Goblin: removes 3 durability at 2 mana, cheapest creature to remove almost all relics
Bronze Servant: easily accessible removal on a sticky body

Sleep Removal:
Svart Basilisk: good stats, flexible effect removing sleep from one creature and 2 durability
Ironclad Minotaur: big body, hard to kill with protected, removes sleep from your entire board

Sort:

Hey there! Thanks for contributing to the Gods Unchained community on Hive. I also noticed that you aren't using the #oneup tag though as well. If you didn't know, Oneup is a Hive frontend focused on all things NFT gaming. You can use the tag any time you are blogging about Gods Unchained.

Your post has been manually curated by the oneup curation team.
