2022 - Let's kick it off with an intro post - JaCorey Farkle

What is up good people?!? I hope everyone had a safe, fun New Years (we all did cause we were playing GU and not battling crowds, right?)

It's long overdue but now that the holidays have passed, I am finally able to sit down and write out an introduction post for myself. I'm extremely thrilled to be a part of this community and even more excited to work with @Acidyo and the moderation team on keeping the trajectory of this community heading to the moon. My actual name is Corey and I grew up in southern Kentucky, I graduated from WKU with a degree in Kinesiology and now work in Human Resources as a Talent Acquisition Specialist for one of the United States top construction companies. I have a wife of 3 years and a son who will be 2 very soon. When I'm not spending my time chasing him around the house, you can find me on here or twitch (more on that later.) I am a huge fan of music, especially Widespread Panic, the Grateful Dead and jam bands in general. Video games, sports, concerts and collecting rare bourbon are my main hobbies.

Let's start way back, back to the place where I earned the name - JaCorey Farkle. I was a chubby kid that was the only teenager in a 10 mile radius, growing up, my elementary school was in a different time zone. It was up to me to find my own fun, which usually resulted in playing videogames and eating southern fried foods. I was a fan of most game genres and have owned every system since the first Nintendo in 1992. We always vacationed in Gatlinburg, Tennessee (basically a redneck tourist destination) and there is a shop there that sold footlong corn dogs that they deep fried right in front of you named Fannie Farkle's. When I was on a trip with some high school friends, I made them all stop there to get corndogs and that is when the name stuck. JaCorey Farkle.

College was a blur, not because I graduated quickly or spent all my time in the library, no, actually quite the opposite. I spent some time touring the southeast, living in different cities and attending various universities before settling down at Western Kentucky University. I played a ton of WoW (World of Warcraft) during my college years in between parties and intramural sporting events and was able to maintain one of the top mythic raiding Warlocks on my server during Cataclysm and Mists.

I would occasionally play HS or MTG on mobile during these years but never competitively. Now, I've been able to take that base of knowledge with TCG games and hit the ground running with GU. I instantly fell in love with the simple UI and card mechanics that the game presented during the tutorial and knew that the free time that I have was better spent playing GU than Madden, COD, F1 racing or any other console title. I've been playing for a month now, have almost made it to Auric Gold (should get there this weekend) and will be marching towards Mythic rank very soon.

The community as a whole, and especially the hive community have been awesome to this point and it definitely reminds me of how tight knit raiding guilds were from back in my WoW days... minus getting yelled at for not buffing before a boss fight. Looking forward to many memories and shared success amongst the GU community. Let's make 2022 an amazing year for everyone who will discover GU and this community.
