The love of Motorcycle Riding Short Trip in Weekends.

Weekend Riding.jpg

When I was in middle school there was an animation movie called "AKIRA" and it was made back in the late 80's but still looked really nice for something that old. In that movie I clearly remember watching Kaneda with his red motorcycle and this friends riding together in the night city. It was so amazingly cool I was determined to ride like that one day.

Being in middle school there was no way I could have afford such an expensive super bike so I started with a 50cc scooter I bought at the time with money I have saved dearly doing part time jobs and selling things that had any value to my friends like video games. From my first scooter as I got older the bikes just getting bigger and rather than to use as commuting I mostly road on weekends or when I had some time off.

My friend and also my mentor in design. We used to ride a lot together when we both lived in California. He was the one who showed me all about Café Racer Bikes and the Fashion of it all.

During weekend rides there is a lot of people who wants to go out on bikes as well~~ it becomes packed!! But still its great to see people doing the same experiences together~ its more fun.

After the break we go for another destination!~~ Getting ready to roll!~~

My friend just having a good time that day~ We stopped at a breakfast cabin in the mountains and just finished our food and chilling outside. A lot of bikes that weekend.

I really enjoy both sports bikes and vintage café racer bikes as well~ both have a very cool vibe in them. As for vintage bikes the best example I can think of is again from the movie "TRON" the scene where we see the bike riding the night and into the tunnel with reflections of the tunnel lights gliding down the glossy surface of the black bike.... mmmmmm. :)

IMG_3823.JPG

The icon cafe racer Honda CB-125 built back in the 70's.... It maybe old but its damn cool. and its so easy to ride on! It a bike that will always be fun to ride and always be in demand if need to sell.

IMG_3868.JPG

For some time I really enjoyed riding with my wife together. We both had full gear on for safety and also to protect from the crazy sun. The problem with full gear is that... IT GETS HOT inside. To the point where you get so dehydrated that your drinking lots of water during the ride trip however there is no pee to be seen. The water just gets pulled out by the suns heat and the wind and you dont go to the bathroom that often. The place I used to ride was back in California summers so... that explains the heat.

Weekend riding to the mountains with my wife was a pretty fresh experience. She doesn't want to control the bike so she told me she rather ride on the back seat~~ It was a bit harder to control but at the same time I aint gonna do something stupid with my wife on the back seat. :)

With my wife and I taking a short break before we ride down back home.

When riding on weekend for fun to the outdoor mountains the excitement of riding the twisty roads and curves truly is very addicting in way.

When you lean against the bike there is this feeling where gravity shifts from the bottom and moves side to side... its hard to explain however its a feeling where you kinda want it again and again. But to do it seriously I go to the tracks to fully enjoy leaning my bike almost to the ground with my knees down.

Track racing is another part of motorcycles where it not only tests your limits of your mind but also I often get surprised when my bike can actually make impressive moves when I was so sure I was going to fall. Performance on motorcycles is kind of like the balance of pushing yourself mentally and constantly talking with your bike while you are riding. hahahaha... I really do that... treat my bike as if it were a companion when we race~~ somehow it really works better. I will write on another blog about tracking riding soon. For now~ here is a sneak preview.

Performance getting serious~~~ My bike has been going through a lot with me. :)

These bikes are so classic, a lot of new models of motorcycles here in our country are being customized to look like them.

Yes! Exactly~ So classic that new bikes are being built to look like the old ones. Man... now that is what I call timeless design and style. I actually like the cafe racer types than the modern sports bike~ the classic bikes has like a sense of style and fashion to it.

the classic bikes has like a sense of style and fashion to it.

Same here, nothing beats classic.

I wonder how many people ended up on bikes because of Akira :D

Lolz~ Maybe just this idiot. Hahahha~ but seriously in the eyes of a middle school kid, that shit was sooooooo cooool at the time.

I remember that movie...I was eighteen when it was released here. It didn't make me get a bike, although several years later I did, several actually...You made me miss my R1 and R6 with this post.

I know exactly what you mean when you say you miss them. I miss mines too.... these were some good memories I wanted to share. Now I have a wife and two kids~ change to something a little bit more subtle and safe. Golf anyone?? :) oh man oh man....

Golf...Lol...I tried it and it's not for me. 😂

Things change for sure and, if I'm honest, the roads here are so dangerous that being exposed on a bike exacerbates the opportunity for trouble; it's a shame. I remember having to ride so aggressively to stay out of harms way and even then people cut me off, pulled out in front of me and generally acted the fool. I guess it's something only a person who has ridden understands.

I went and test rode the new R1 not too long ago with the view to buying it but something in my head just said no , don't get it...Common sense maybe? I'm still thinking about it but in reality it's unlikely to happen.

In my opinion I think the most safest way to enjoy riding is with groups on a weekend or on the track if you like to try racing. The problem we face with dangers are always when others dont know you are there. And this directly I am talking about riding in regular busy streets... its not about you being careful, its actually the other people who is not aware of riders or dont care. Cars have shields 360 degrees all around them... bikes dont... so in an accident the one who is at most lost is the bike rider. As a result, when I live in Asia I will switch my riding strictly to ride with group on weekends or race on track.

I'm lucky here, we have a lot of open road with few people on them, I mean away from the cities. It makes for some very good riding. I prefer it to track days actually as on track days things always seem to get too serious. The freedom of the open road is what I love.

Your right, the feeling of freedom in an open road is definitely a lot refreshing and satisfying than on the track. Racing motorcycles to me feels like going to the gym... I want better performance than last time and to do so every second counts and total focus is required. It does help build mental and physical endurance... after the race... I usually knock out. Zzzzzzzzz :)

Thanks for the comment!~

That's a good analogy, the gym comment. I like racing but the track feels too limiting sometimes. Riding and ending up in some new place, that moment I swing off the bike, stretch out and take my helmet off...It's glorious after a decent ride in the country.

Oh man I miss our rides together.. still remember us both going to the Griffith observatory on our bikes.

Yes!~~ Solo, I remember it clear as day too. Time really goes passed us so fast these days. The memories I cherish is something I am trying to share in the community. Riding bikes together with you was pretty fun back then~~~~ :)

Oh, man love the old school bikes! Fan of Honda also as I got one CB500 🤙

Then we have similar taste in motorcycle styling and its lifestyle my friend~~ CB500 - The mother of all Honda Cafe Racers. Beautiful~~~

Too bad I was born in the mid-90s and I doubt I have seen the Akira series, it could have probably inspired me to love bikes.

Doing bikes here is not fun, our roads ain't very good, it is always busy, and reading about bike accidents scares me a lot. Many people prefer going out with commercial bikes since it would save you from been stuck in traffic.

I have bike accident twice, I wasn't the rider and probably I would have been more careful. I love the Suzuki bike, it looks like it is going through a serious transformation. I am eager to know what the upgrades are.

I understand your point of view too George. In Asia a lot of bikes are being used not for leisure but mostly for commuting from work/home. In this case riding in local streets must be driven with caution. Riding outside of the city is much more enjoyable since the purpose of riding is entirely different. We all need to be careful and take good care of ourselves!~~

The upgrade I have done is Tires (I like more grip on the road), Exhaust (I like it loud for some reason), and a computer to control my fuel/air when racing. Other than that, everything else is factory. :) Funny thing is that its the stuff you dont see that gives the most performance... hehehehe Tires and Computer. :)

Wow, I love bikes and I love bikers.
I'm the huge fan of your wife now😅hehe.
She's so cute.

Hehehe~ Nice my wife now has a fan base!~ :) She likes to be around me whatever I do even though she doesn't do anything just the fact she is beside me is pure joy.

Oh wow! That looks really cool! You made me miss motorbike rides with my peers. I'm getting a lot busy this year though.

Busy is always good, and bikes can always wait for you when you are free. When riding your head should be totally worry free to enjoy it to the max~

I remember riding with my buddy's on one weekend and my mind was on some work stuff all day and it was not a good ride. So enjoy it to the fullest when your free~ :)
