My Greatest Achievement ~WE99 POSTING TOPICS

Hey guys. It's been a rainy Friday here. The cold has arrested us indoors after we were beaten by the rain. However, it's one of a weekend, writing this blog under the duve, quite an experience.

Okay!

Some twenty years ago when I started off as a young graduate seeking for a job, anth the economic meltdown where there is no job. Luck however shone on me, I got one via my uncle. As a young man, I was just eager to get engaged.

It was a teaching job, having studied history at the university, and taken some professional courses in Civilian Peacekeeping and International Diplomacy, the kind of job I had expected was with either the United Nations or its agencies but these Jobs needed some high-level guarantor that I did not have at the time. So, I had better look away.

This so-called teaching job came with a salary of about $8 per month. After much consideration, I accepted the job.

Wonder?

Everyone who heard in 2002 that I took up such a job was dazed. I was likewise surprised that I had let go of my dreams of becoming a diplomat. My father (of blessed memory) stood by me, he encouraged me and asked me not to despise a little beginning.

When I resumed at the school, the students gave me a warm welcome. We got along so well that my teaching in the class became acknowledged. I was just happy doing my thing. The salary did not matter anyways.

I did not have to pay any bills. I was leaving with my parents and it was our house, we weren't paying rent to anyone. So, generally, things went well.

Before anyone knew it, I had spent ten years at the job already. The salary has greatly changed, though it wasn't like it's worth my effort.
As part of the celebration of staying in the job for ten years, the management board awarded me the longest service teaching in the school with $1,000 (which was an equivalent of my six months salary in 2012) with a plot of land somewhere around town.

A Teacher's Reward

The celebration as the announcement was made is still stocked in my memory. Every other teacher that I met at the job had resigned to seek a greener pasture elsewhere.
After I got the cash and land reward from the college management, the college asked me to resume as the college registrar. You know, it was another happy moment for me. Now, I took up the responsibility to enrol students, register them in the school log book and even procure registration with the government examination body.

For real, I wouldn't know how to assess myself in this but in 2016, I was made the principal of the school. This came after fourteen solid years of service.

The joy is not just about the position, I can proudly say that with my colleagues, we have rolled out students who have become very relevant in the society, not just in Nigeria but across Africa, Europe and the Americas.

In all, one thing that you must learn is that patience is an oven where a great future is prepared.
As we tend to get what we desire, we would come across some experiences that may look like the grass is greener on the other side but in reality, life goes beyond what we desire, it begins with what we can offer.
