Every pro was once an amateur. Every expert was once a beginner. So dream big. And start now.
Robin Sharma
This year I was not lucky enough and I did not manage to reach the set KPIs on the business front.
For this reason, I was bypassed by the position of Manager, which would have been the crowning glory of my career in the work I have been doing for many years.
Some of my colleagues who are probably not better professionals than me were promoted as managers, but the description of their work and the connection of their occupations with the direction in which the company decided to move made them visible... Machine learning, robotics , using AI.
I sit with the director and listen to the explanation he gives me when he explains why they haven't recognized me as suitable for the position of manager yet.
He suggest that I consider accepting another job, which will further complicate my obligations and responsibilities (personally, I consider this to be burdening me with a lot of work, and the question of whether I need it or whether I want it) so that next year we will see if there will be an opportunity for my promotion.
I listen to him, and in my head I have a picture of a donkey with a sargarep on a long stick.
Should I go after that carrot and risk investing new, additional strength in something that may slip away from me again.
I was a beginner, I was also an amateur. I became both a professional and an expert... But maybe I didn't dream big enough.
Maybe I didn't call for that position in my mind and dedicated myself enough to communication with other fellow managers, who would show me the right path for that promotion?
Maybe I didn't show enough ambition?
And that's why, as an idea, the following thought passes through my head, which I present to the director:
If you think that I deserve a promotion in the next year, and the organization does not support it, then provide me with the benefits that managers have, and if the organization is recognized, the benefits will come by themselves.
Since I have his support and he thinks I am capable of such a thing, he accepted.
Now all that remains for me is to make good results in the next year, and if that success is not crowned with a promotion again, I will crown it with good bonuses and benefits.
Just to know in advance what I'm going to pursue, what will be my goal, but also my motive, and not like donkeys, to constantly follow the carrot hanging on a long stick and rope.
In 2025, I will, in one way or another, bite that carrot.
That's the attitude!
But it sucks that they don't notice us when we are making an effort and contributing to the company...there are also those who do better in relating to the bosses and they notice them right away...they are good at promoting themselves.
I wish you a lot of success for this 2025, I know you will make it.

Thanks 🙂
Considering that I always give my best, if I am not promoted, I will at least pay for my efforts.
Lets so it.
