Yep, a performing asset, or "income-generating" asset is a key dynamic in my investment decisions. Even when value is lost during a bear market, it can be replaced, to some extent.

Agreed. I have been very specific in the stock market also, buying dividend paying stocks and reinvesting the dividend in the stock, so it grows in value through appreciation and reinvesting the dividend to buy more stock.
