Degrees are a complicated topic, especially in the US where you have to pay a small fortune to get a certificate that you might end up never using...

Unfortunately you are right. A diploma often turns out to be useless paper, and even when applying for a job, the employer does not look at the diploma, but attaches importance to a letter of recommendation, so I think it’s better to order it from a letter of recommendation writer in order to impress the employer and increase your chances of getting around other applicants.
