In the Spotlight
Hive is Five!
On March 20th is the anniversary of Hive or Fork Day as it's also called. Hive just turned 5, without counting the legacy years since 2016 to 2020, which are also part of Hive's history. It is also interesting that this year Hive has as much history on its own as it had in its legacy, and it is the only chain with active development among the ones from the same family of chains, to my knowledge.
I'd also like to remark this interview with Crimsonclad talking about what happened during the complicated times before and after the split, and some considerations about the present, like about DAOs...
was suspended on March 19th to become effective on March 20th (i.e. Hive's anniversary)... Apparently, the last piece of content published there was this one, where Jan Thomasewsky - the developer of Hive Debit Card prototypes and self-declared bitcoin maximalist - said in an interview for Deep Web3 Secrets that he also likes Monero and Hive, and also mentioned why he likes each of them: bitcoin he considers the future money, Monero he likes for its privacy, and Hive for its freedom. Also, maybe something funny in its transparency... @hivetoday's account on Mastodon
I think the last piece was what Mastodon didn't want to see propagate, especially coming from a young bitcoin maxi with developer skills.

More Fantastic Results from Reddit
While Mastodon decided to ban hivetoday's account, we are doing great on Reddit.
1.1m views of Hive links on Reddit in a week is already another record I think (last month we had 2m views, so it must be a record or close to it).
10 underestimated subreddits.@x-rain also shared a list of
Redditposh activity and curation. Also, in what it probably was his first recording with voice on Hive, @acidyo shared his thoughts about
Crim's Speech at Web3 Amsterdam
here it isIf you want to watch @crimsonclad's speech at Web3 Amsterdam, , shared by @louis88.
Update on Hive Hackathon in Delhi
shared his experience.Last week I mentioned that I didn't found any report from the Hive Hackathon in Delhi. Well, I found one. @pravesh0 attended a Hive event for the first time right there, and
Well Planned Launch Date of the 20th Borehole in Ghana
20th borehole... March 20th... Hive anniversary. Actually, it seems its inauguration was on March 19th, so that the post may come out on March 20th.

A... Collection of Hive Development Contributions
list of their contributions to important projects for Hive. Among them, hAIve - the new AI-powered search engine they worked on, which you can test on a development version of Hive.blog they made public. Sadly, when I looked for "adrian's lenses" or anything related (found in titles, bodies, and tags of these and other posts), I didn't find any post of mine.At the 5-year anniversary of Hive, @thebeedevs published a
Automatic Market DCA on DSwap
DSwap introduced the possibility to automatically DCA for the token market on Hive-Engine. Basically, we are talking at this point about splitting a bigger order into smaller orders to be executed in multiple operations, at a given interval. Soon the same option will be introduced for diesel pools as well.
Do You Know the HiveWhale?
Older Hivers most likely do. Newer users might not, unless they've seen this post. HiveWhale is a fountain like a whale in a port of the Netherlands. And it sprays water if you pay it 1 HIVE or 1 HBD... You get a gif with the actual action as proof. And you can watch it in real-time.
Acidyo Interview at HIVE Thrive
He talks about curation (he also posted this), when would Holozing be launched (he think before Q3 the alpha version), and also about POSH.

Rising Star Updates
Recently Rising Star released a Pawn Shop for your cards with luck on them. This week they also introduced "Hotel Buskeria", a hotel where fans check in a never leave (i.e. you can burn your cards with fans on them, in return for a card when you reach the top of the leaderboard for burned cards by fans).
Also. they removed the bonus packs for buying multiple packs (10 or 100).
And a few anniversary cards are available for the 5th anniversary of Rising Star.
Splinterlands Updates
It was a big week for Splinterlands this week with the launch of land 1.75, but we talked about that last week. These aren't the only updates that came on Tuesday, so here are the release notes.
Also, a Town Hall was held on Thursday, but I didn't have the chance to listen to it. By having a brief look at the post, apart from the releases from this week, in the eye candy section the focus seems to have been on the solo campaign for new players. It looks really good!
New Game Will Come to Hive
Deep Web3 Secrets. Moon is a space colonization strategy game that is already playable in the final test universe of the game, but you'll need to log in with an email, not with Hive for this one, at least in this phase. I checked it out a few days ago, and it looks promising.@hivetrending talks about Pizza and... Moon on
MoonKarts Airdrop
Players who purchased a significant number of MoonKarts packs received their promised promo card(s) airdrop. Here are the details.
Week in the Crypto World
Tornado Cash No Longer Sanctioned by the US
What I wonder is if they lifted the sanctions because they found a way to track the mixed transactions or because they had to. A judge ruled against the decision to sanction a protocol (Tornado Cash smart contracts) back in November, but the sanctions were only lifted now.
Oracle Taking a Minority Stake in TikTok...
... while the latter starts using Oracle Cloud services. This may be a precursor of a higher involved of Oracle in TikTok. Either that, or another American company joins them, and together they take a significant stake too.

Wow! You covered so many topics that I could hardly catch up. Is the 3rd quarter confirmed or just a tentative date for Holozing's launch?
Still tentative, it appears. He also said "before Q3". But who knows? I think they'll try to catch Q3 at least, it would make little sense to launch after the bear market starts, if the cycle remains intact.
Though tentative, at least, now there is a date.
It looks like a lot of news on games. Splinterlands, Rising Star, Holozing, and even that new game.
Yep! There was even something new about Exode, but I don't know enough about the game to understand how to present it. Those interested can read in their discord about Achea.
I've used Mastodon for a while and mentioned Hive a lot without being banned. I am on a different node who may not mind so much. I think a few people may have blocked me though.
Cheers for the updates and I hope you are recovering well.

So, the impact is at the server level then? But yet again, you can't be on all servers, you have to choose one to be on, I suppose. And if you are unlucky, does your content survive on Fediverse or not, if you move to a different interface? I suppose I don't know enough about this protocol...
Thanks! I still have my jaw swollen, but that should pass in a day or two. Then, it takes a while for the sutures to heal. It seems I'm on track. I talk with my dentist daily and will go for a visit on Monday.
The various Mastodon/Fediverse nodes are run by individuals or organisations. They can each set and enforce their own rules. People can also opt not to federate other nodes if they think they are spammy or otherwise unsuitable. You can think of them as being like email servers really. They communicate on a standard protocol, but operate independently. If someone ran one that linked to Hive then would see if it would be accepted.
The 5 year anniversary is by far the biggest event, great achievement, chain is up and healthy
It's a big milestone, for sure, especially since development is still going and the chain is not dead, like in other cases...
Hive celebrating its 5th anniversary is a huge achievement
Maybe we should realize how bigger achievement this is, especially in this day and age when projects rise and drop like flies.
Hive fork's story can be uniquely told by many and sometimes it doesn't get old listening to it over and over again. I remember being so stressed about Justin Sun taking over, and I didn't even know we were planning to fork, until the chain went live. EPIC story any day anytime.
Aggroed held daily s**m Town Halls during that battle, sometimes lasting many hours. I listened through many of those hours. At some point, Blocktrades joined and only said a few words, something like: "We are working on a fork, which will be ready soon." And then he left the conversation. Maybe he said a few more words, but that's all I remember, and I remember he was very brief then. That's when the community (including Aggroed, apparently), first heard about the fork being worked on. Obviously, they didn't want to give heads up to JS about what they are doing, that's why the relative secrecy. Plus that it needed to be done quickly.
At the time, the talk was still revolving around... how do we take our chain back. In retrospect, that was impossible, after exchanges got involved.
Indeed. I was probably thinking we were going to roll over and agree to the terms of Justin Sun and all that. A few people were already talking about how beneficial it would be to have Justin Sun take over. Obviously when you have a hostile takeover like that, questions of loyalty begins to come into place.
Well, if one didn't know better about the guy, they could have thought it was a well-known face for st**m in the space, and we would have done better. But he surely proved his character very quickly for anyone who didn't know him.
I have not heard the news about Hotel Buskeria on Rising Star it looks cool
I especially like how they packaged it: "a hotel where fans check in and never leave". Really nice!
thanks for this list of interesting news!

The HiveWhale part is very new to me
Yep, it was a cool project Roeland put together and brought back to life now (from his post, we find out that it doesn't work during winter time).
I am excited for the Moon game that will come soon to Hive
I only looked around for a couple of minutes on the test server, but I liked what I saw.
