For the past month or so I have been quite active on The Open Network - TON. We can see a lot of crypto influencers shilling TON projects on X and telling how much they've earned with certain tap-the-screen games. However, after trying out several of those, I have learned that the earning potential is usually based on the upcoming airdrops, and before that, it's just grinding and hoping for a decent allocation.
Just the other day I came across TON Turbo Mining Bot which lets you earn crypto instantly and for free! Once logged in, you can start the miner and it will begin mining $TON. The best thing is that it'll keep mining in the background even when the app is closed. That being said, it's noteworthy to say that the amounts aren't very big with the free version but hey, it's free and it's honest work!
Shiba Inu
In addition to those slowly piling up TON tokens, you can also earn $SHIB with TON Turbo. This happens by completing certain tasks such as liking X posts, trying out other mini-apps, and joining their Telegram channels.
I have completed almost all the quests and so far earned $3.5 worth of Shiba Inu. You will need an EVM address to withdraw SHIB and I also noticed that the fee was something like $0.5. So again, not much but a nice little bonus if doing tasks is your thing.
Upgrading Miners
Using the free version will provide you with 1 GH/s of mining power which as mentioned, isn't going to bring massive profits. However, with TON Turbo you can also rent more powerful miners for a month.
I decided to give this option a try right away and rented an Antminer with 10 GH/s on top of the base 1 GH/s power. The cost was 1.41 TON and it should give me 2.35 TON after 30 days.
On top of that, I'm also entitled to a one-time reward of 30k TONT which are the native governance tokens of the platform.
TONT
So what are the use cases of TONT tokens?
Unlike TON and SHIB, TONT cannot be withdrawn from the app(at least not yet) but instead, holding TONT will determine the amount of tokens you receive during the official listing ensuring that the tokens are rewarded to active miners at TGE. In addition to this airdrop, TONT can be staked in the future to earn some APR.
How to earn TONT?
The 1 GH/s free version is only mining TON and you will need to upgrade your miner to start earning TONT simultaneously. Referring to other users will also bring you small amounts of TONT but by looking at the mining numbers, the focus is clearly on mining.
My Mining Strategies
With my purchase of 10 GH/s Antminer, I'm planning on seeing through the next 30 days. So if the withdrawal process goes smoothly, I'm going to use my profits to buy two Antminers and after that three miners and so on.
Alternatively, I could take a risk and after doing some more research, invest 14.7 TON and move on to mining with Bitmain Pro. This remains to be decided but I still have a month to dig deeper into TON mining.
Conclusion
If you aren't going to degen into this like me, I'd say using the free version could be a solid option as well. If you are using TON with other mini-apps you have probably noticed that certain actions might require signing and paying small fees. TON Turbo could be a great option to cover these with passive mining.
As for the potential airdrop I'm not holding my breath but it's nice to know that with my upgrading miners strategy, I am probably going to be eligible for at least some allocation.
The TON ecosystem is booming right now with a massive potential of no-coiner Telegram users. There are probably going to be a lot of rubbish and scams so we might wanna be cautious. I took a small risk with this investment and plan to keep you posted after a month on how it all went. Until then, remember to do your own research.
