A Telenovela: Jane The Virgin Season 1 and 2 review

I know this series is pretty old because I heard about it a long time ago. I never saw it because it didn't make a lot of sense to me, still doesn't make a lot of sense because I knew she couldn't stay a virgin for the entire 5 seasons.

I just started the third season where she just lost her virginity, however, the first and second seasons made a lot more sense than the cycle of random activities going on at this point. I really feel like they have almost nothing to act about anymore so they just keep bringing in new characters into the series.

The writers seem so uncertain. They kill off one character, then come up with a story to bring them back. It's like they just don't want it to make any sense at all while trying to make it seem like it makes a lot of sense.

A lot of things that happen seem so unrelatable. I mean, how can a cop that's so great turn out to have been wearing a mask ever since with a voice patch. How did they forge her entire history and then it all turned out that she was made up. How can one person have been betrayed by his partner twice?

The next problem is the love triangles. I hate how people love each other but can't just be straight and admit it. Then don't get me started on the many twists from loving one person to receiving a sign and dashing off to the next available person and then returning to the first person because you can't just decide what you really want.

I can't deny that sometimes love can be confusing like that but watching it all play out and their reasons for behaving the way they do, it's so childish. Also, they cry too quickly over absurd things. I don't get it. The lead character is the worst. You can't even have a proper conversation with her without her tear glands nursing out. It gets me so aggravated.

For one thing, I love their dressing. The costume crew did really good at it and their use of different locations even though we all know that there are only 4 or 5 major rooms used in the entire series. They actually make a lot of things look very believable.

The fusion of Spanish and English to make us always remember that it's a Telenovela is funny. The best thing in the entire series is actually the narrator. His act makes every part of the series hilarious.

I love how there's always an introduction whenever a new character is brought in. They always let us know who they are and why they're important at the bottom of the screen. I always look forward to it.

Finally, even though the plot twists are annoying, I can't imagine how the show would be without them. It's so much drama and suspense and even though you might think you know what to expect they always have a way of doing something totally different. I hate how much fun I'm having watching this show. It feels pretty toxic.

Thanks for reading
