I'm used to Netflix having movies with brilliant plots that they don't know how to use quite well afterwards and in other cases in a catastrophic way. This is a Korean super production of science fiction and thriller where good argumentative intentions can be appreciated that later are diluted in the continuity of the film.
The film shows us a near future where North and South Korea become allies to create a super power. Logically some countries did not like this and an economic blockade against this emerging power began. The protests are not long in coming among the citizens of this new nation and an organization called "The sect" demonstrates in favor of the burning citizens and begins to carry out actions against the government.
Seeing the uncontrolled situation of this subversive group, the government decides to create a special unit of men with special and almost indestructible suits that little by little would destroy this group but in one of the many massacres perpetuated by this unit, a group of innocent girls which made "the wolf brigade" lose credibility in the eyes of the citizens.
Estoy acostumbrado a que Netflix tenga películas con argumentos brillantes que después no saben usar del todo bien y en otros casos de manera catastrófica. Esta es una súper producción coreana de ciencia ficción y thriller donde se pueden apreciar buenas intenciones argumentativas que luego se van diluyendo en la continuidad de la película.
La película nos muestra un futuro cercano en donde Corea del Sur y del Norte se vuelve aliadas para crear una súper potencia. Lógicamente a algunos países esto no fue de su agrado y empieza un bloqueo económico hacia esta potencia emergente. Las protestas no se hacen esperar entre los ciudadanos de esta nueva nación y una organización llamada “La secta” se manifiesta a favor de los ciudadanos ardidos y empiezan a ejecutar acciones en contra del gobierno.
Al ver la situación descontrolada de este grupo subversivo, el gobierno decide crear una unidad especial de hombres con trajes especiales y casi indestructibles que poco a poco irían acabando con este grupo pero en una de las tantas masacres perpetuadas por esta unidad, se asesinó a un grupo de niñas inocentes lo cual hizo que “la brigada del lobo” perdiera credibilidad ante los ojos de los ciudadanos.
The political and social climate of the film is complex and tends to saturate the viewer with a kind of techno-thriller that takes more than half the film. Espionage, sabotage and other things abound in this film but in my opinion they were not well managed and ended up boring me on several occasions.
The plot of the film is wonderful and I must confess that at the beginning of the film I had high expectations because it has an active and merciless beginning, the film begins quickly and chaotically. Then that begins to wane to give rise to a film more based on espionage or more police.
El clima político y social de la película es complejo y tiende a saturar al espectador con una especie de techno-thriller que se lleva más de la mitad de la película. Espionaje, saboteo y demás cosas abundan en esta película pero que en mi opinión no fueron bien llevadas y terminaron por aburrirme en varias ocasiones.
El argumento de la película es maravilloso y debo confesar que al principio de la película tuve grandes expectativas porque tiene un comienzo activo y sin piedad, la película comienza de manera rápida y caótica. Luego eso empieza a menguar para dar pie a una película más basada en el espionaje o más policial.
In the end the movie ends up being an action disaster with ridiculous scenes out of movies like the "Indestructibles" that basically destroy everything that the movie could have been and I don't understand why they do this. What motivates them to destroy a good argument in that way? It's not about this movie, it's about too many movies on Netflix that suffer from this disease, good storylines, bad productions.
Al final la película termina siendo un desastre de acción con escenas ridículas salidas de películas como los “Indestructibles” que destruyen básicamente todo lo que pudo haber sido la película y no entiendo porque hacen esto. ¿Qué les motiva a destruir un buen argumento de esa manera? No se trata de esta película se trata de demasiadas películas en Netflix que padecen de esta enfermedad, buenos argumentos, malas producciones.
I can't say that the movie is bad at all because it entertained me on certain occasions but it does get boring on more than one occasion. There are things, despite everything, quite redeemable in this film such as the allegory with the story of Little Red Riding Hood, changing the original story and making us reflect on Who should we hate? This is a key factor in the movie since everyone really has their reasons for hating something, the three factions fight each other, the government, the wolf brigade and the sect and we cannot empathize with one since they all have their reasons.
The science fiction in this film is limited to a possible story between the unification of the two Koreas and in the special suits of the Wolf Brigade, otherwise this film can be considered a techno thriller like the Tom Clancy novels.
No puedo decir que la película sea mala del todo porque me entretuvo en ciertas ocasiones pero vaya que se vuelve aburrida en más de una. Hay cosas pese a todo, bastante rescatables en esta película como la alegoría con el cuento de Caperucita Roja, cambiando la historia original y haciéndonos reflexionar sobre ¿A quién debemos odiar? Esto es un factor clave en la película ya que realmente todos tienen sus razones para odiar algo, las tres facciones luchan entre sí, gobierno, brigada lobo y la secta y no podemos empatizar con una ya que todas tienen sus motivos.
La ciencia ficción en esta película se limita a una historia posible entre la unificación de las dos coreas y en los trajes especiales de la Brigada Lobo, de resto esta película puede ser considerada un tecno thriller como las novelas de Tom Clancy.
The idea for this movie is brilliant and maybe people who like disproportionate action movies like the whole movie. In my case, I enjoyed a lot at the beginning but the truth is that I do not tolerate exaggerated situations that take away from the seriousness of the films, although this may be necessary from time to time to give emotion to a film, I do not see why this resource should be used in a film that appeared to be serious.
On a visual and soundtrack level, the film performs quite well. Asians know how to use soundtracks very well in their productions, creating a higher climax. The visual aspect is imposing, chaotic and very well executed, we are talking about that the film was produced in one of the countries with the greatest technological innovation, so large productions at the visual level are an almost indispensable requirement for them.
La idea de esta película es brillante y quizás a las personas que les gusten las películas de acción desproporcionada les guste toda la película. En mi caso disfrute mucho al principio pero la verdad es que no tolero situaciones exageradas que le quitan seriedad a las películas aunque esto pueda ser necesario de vez en cuando para darle emoción a una cinta, no veo porque haya que usar este recurso en una película que aparentaba ser seria.
A nivel visual y de banda sonora la película cumple bastante bien. Los asiáticos saben usar las bandas sonoras muy bien en sus producciones, creando un clímax más elevado. El aspecto visual es imponente, caótico y muy bien ejecutado, estamos hablando de que la película se produjo en uno de los países con mayor innovación a nivel tecnológico así que grandes producciones a nivel visual son un requisito casi indispensable para ellos.
Korean cinema is all the rage, that's for sure. And the truth is that they have good titles, good productions, but I must also clarify that I do not consider that they have achieved their own voice at the cinematographic level, clearly following in the footsteps of American productions. Obviously there will be many exceptions and unique films in this Korean Universe like Oldboy, one of my favorite films, was for me, but in Illang this is not the case.
In conclusion, the film has a brilliant plot like many Netflix movies, which is practically scrapped by orienting the film towards a police action production. At a visual and sound level the film is wonderful but it is not something that I would see repeatedly, however it is highly recommended for people who like unbridled action.
El cine coreano está de moda, eso es seguro. Y lo cierto es que tienen buenos títulos, buenas producciones pero también debo aclarar que no considero que hayan conseguido su propia voz a nivel cinematográfico, siguiendo los pasos claramente de producciones americanas. Obviamente habrá muchas excepciones y películas únicas en este Universo coreano como lo fue para mí Oldboy, una de mis películas favoritas, pero en Illang esto no es así.
En conclusión, la película cuenta con un argumento brillante como muchas películas de Netflix, que es prácticamente desechado orientando la película hacia una producción de acción policial. A nivel visual y sonoro la película es una maravilla pero no es algo que vería repetidas veces, sin embargo es altamente recomendable para las personas que les guste la acción desenfrenada.
