Bad Boys 4 (Movie Review) [EN]

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return more thuggish than ever in this fourth installment that feeds off the best moments of the saga, and directed again by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

Below we will tell you our opinion about this title, which is an advance for a franchise that seemed to have reached its end point in the third.

In Bad Boys 4, Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett investigate corruption within the Miami police, after their late captain Conrad Howard is posthumously accused of being involved with the Romanian mafia. Given this, the protagonists become fugitives and are forced to work outside the law to solve the case.

The first thing to mention before starting specific comments about what is perceived about the film is that there is nothing better for a saga that began in the 90s that continues to this day than recognizing itself. The clichés of buddy movies and the typical aspects of action cinema are more present than ever, but with a reinvention by taking the best of the current genre to entertain its audience. This is what makes it a positive release.

The film starts off with a bang and predicts the feast of action and all-out shootings but, be careful, without any nasty slaps, that is coming our way: up in a heart-stopping Porsche (and it's not a spoiler, but oh well) and driving around. Crazy, the two Miami police officers that we know in the past arrive late for a very important appointment, Mike's very wedding, which does not stop even a Tarantino-style robbery, that is, with a lot of dialogue, jelly beans in the air and such. Basically, the detail that they must then face the issue of the late, honest and beloved Captain Conrad Howard being posthumously accused of being involved with the Romanian mafia and having made a fortune for it does not give a damn to anyone, which we have gone to the cinema to enjoy this binge, of Will Smith in his purest form, drawing his weapon quickly and directly and killing whoever gets in his way. Sorry, Chris Rock, but your revenge hasn't come yet.

The best:
The protagonists nail their roles, although Lawrence goes overboard this time with "spiritual"

The worst:
If you don't like the saga, here you will only get more of the same
